AEM Short Ram intake systems are an economical alternative to our Cold Air systems and deliver the best performance, value and ease of installation than any other short inlet intake. Our Short Ram intakes install easily under the hood and cost less because we use less material to manufacture them.
During the development process, we found certain applications respond favorably to shorter inlet lengths over our longer Cold Air designs. For these applications (denoted in the search results page), we offer a Short Ram system only. We perform extensive temperature testing to locate the filter in the coolest area of the engine compartment, which allows our Short Ram systems to achieve the lowest inlet temperatures possible. Please refer to our temperature testing procedures for more information.

A few problems with the product; none with ClubRSX, 6.19.2008

ClubRSX had the best price and it was delivered promptly. I'll order from here again.
The AEM documentation is very well done. Lots of step-by-step instructions, complete with B&W photos. Once the OE intake is removed (it's a pain), installation of the AEM SRI is simple. If you plan to remove the front bumper cover for another project, do it at the same time, as having the cover removed gives better access to the OE intake for removal.
I have two problems with the AEM SRI that are specific to the 2006+ Honda Civic Si; I have a coupe, but I believe this applies to the sedan as well. First, the soft mount vibration isolator snapped in half while I was tightening the mounting nut. I wasn't applying very much torque, and this may have just been a faulty part. The real problem is that AEM chose to mount to a hole already used to hold the Water Outlet Cover in place, and the AEM soft mount forces you to apply torque from the top nut (holding the SRI in place) through the entire mount. Placing a hex flange for tightening on the underside stud of the soft mount would fix this problem.
The other problem is that the SRI interferes with the upper radiator hose. It probably deflects it down at least 1/2", which in addition to heating up the intake, also puts stress on the radiator. There's a radiator hose bracket on the underside of the SRI that's worse than useless, as it serves no purpose other than to rub against the OE hose. A replacement, offset hose or an offset fitting designed to be used with the OE hose would fix these problems.
I'll make a better soft mount and radiator hose myself, but AEM be should include both with the kit.
As for the performance of the intake, I have no plans to do any dyno testing. The SRI is noticeably louder than OE under WOT, but it isn't objectionable. Under normal acceleration, the sound is a little louder, but again, not objectionable. At cruising speed, it sounds exactly like the OE intake, which was a relief for me. My main reason for purchase was for less restrictive air filtration, and I'm fairly certain the SRI is accomplishing that. I haven't seen a noticeable change in fuel economy.
I recommend this product, but I'd like to see AEM make the noted changes.
