| Tools Needed:
3/8 Ratchet with 6" extension
12mm socket
Phillips Screwdriver
Flat head screwdriver
Stubby Phillips head screwdriver
Needle nose pliers
Electrical or masking tape |
| Step 1: Remove the shift knob. |
| Step 2: Remove the shift boot console. You need to pull up really hard on the edge at the cup holders. |
| Step 4: Remove the rear screws of the center console located in the back seat. |
Step 5: Remove the cigarette lighter panel by using a small screw driver.
Tip: Tape up the end of the screw driver to prevent any damage to the plastic. |
| Step 6: Using a stubby screw driver, remove the two plastic screws in the middle of the console. |
| Step 7: Pull both front corners of the console until the clips are released. |
| Step 8: At the back of the console, you need to disconnect the rear power outlet. It is a little hard to pull off the first time, but keep pulling, it will come off. You might want to wear gloves to prevent cutting your hand. |
| Step 9: Remove the center console by lifting up from the back first. It should slide out pretty easily. It is the easiest to move it to the back of the car and place it in the back seat. |
| Step 10: Remove the sound deadening foam. Remove the two pins holding in the two cables using the needle nose pliers. Remove the metal clip by prying upwards while the black plastic holder on the left must be turned counter clockwise until it slides out (this will give you resistance, just keep turning). Then Remove the four screws holding in the shifter. |
| Step 11: Remove the shifter from the car. |
| Step 12: Remove the rubber bushings from the stock shifter. Use needle nose pliers to push the rubber bushings out. This step can be skipped if installing aftermarket shift kit. |
| Step 13: Place the metal bushings over the stock mounting holes and reinstall the shifter following steps 1 thru 10 in reverse order. |
| Tip: Place a little tape over the metal bracket to keep it from rattling. |
