uhh i don't think he's talking about motor...

but yes, the ball joints are different, if you're talking about lower ball joint
05-06 has a bigger opening.
the 02-04 one is smaller

Apparently 2001 Honda Preludes have crosslisted ball joints with 2005-2006 DC5s.

I had to go through the absolute bullshit of trying to buy an aftermarket one for mine. OEM 05-06 can only be gotten through the steering knuckle.

so 02-04 are the same as ep3 or civic lower ball joint?

so is not a good choice to upgrade for a bigger lower ball joint...

02-04 are much easier to get. Fuck the 05-06.

02-06 Base = same throughout all years ball joint (small taper and body)
02-04 Type-S = same as above (small taper and body)
05-06 Type-S = unique to 05-06 Type-S (large taper and medium body)
02-06 Type-R = different knuckle and balljoint (large taper and body)
So will an 05/06 knuckle fit on my 03? I need to replace mine and I found a guy parting out his 06
The knuckles and ball joints are different on 05-06 vs 02-04.

super late reply but yes you can use 05/06 on 02-04 or vice versa. but doing so you would have to run the same year(s) lower control arm and knuckle/balljoints. the taper in the control arm is wider as well on 05/06 i believe. i am going to test it to see, i have a full 02-04 suspension front and rear with new control arms that i needed for my 05 but i didnt know i needed it till the other day and the 02 has been my 05's donor car. lol i do know all rear suspension is the same. but also sway bars front and rear are diff on the new models

i have measured my ktuned roll center ball joints on my 05 and the oem onesi pulled out from the 02 type s shell I’ve got and they are exactly as stated. The same size at the threads but taper Wider as you go up to the top. Same with the press in side as well
Hey all so on the ball joint talk ordered ball joints for my 05 from rock auto and they are too small. The 04 have a different number and appear by pic to be larger but after reading this all posts this should be other way around. Does any one have the oem part number for the 05 Jo t?
I have 05 type=s knuckles and i believe accidentally a shop put in 02-04 ball joints, so they will slide in the knuckles opening, but won't fit the control arm correct? cause they are loose going into my 05 control arms..
