Hey everyone I have officially decided my next car is going to be an RSX-S and I'm happy to say it. Im in no rush to buy one right now but I'm going to start looking just incase I find a really good deal. Im just wondering which Generation of the Type S is better. I know a lot of it comes down to preference but there has to be somethings that were just better done in one generation over the other. I tried searching other forms, threads and websites but kept on getting mixed reviews. Thanks:)

Prepared to get flamed.

I'd suggest getting an 05-06 because of the better suspension, exhaust, interior, and more aggressive front end. Both the A2 and Z1 make the same power, according to other CRSX members, they solely changed the way they measure HP. But yeah, it is mostly preference. Good luck.

Z1 makes 10hp more then the a2. That is because of the cams, and exhaust. Maybe a different tune.

if you are gonna mod, get an 02/04

if your just gonna drive it, get an 05/06

Ive had both an 02 type s and an 05, and I wouldn't go back to an 02-04 unless money was a problem.

And kpro is the only thing I can think of that's more expensive. Most everything else is interchangable between the years.

:ugh:

Whats wrong with modding an 05-06 rsx?
people say that because kpro is more expensive along with some other things. but if you dont mind the money :rain:
if your going boost your not gonna want the 4.7 FD, not to mention if you are doing cams/seats/suspension etc. there is no reason to pay the extra cash for an 06. use the money you would save to snag the front conversion if you want and put the rest towards your mods :dontknow:

the way i see it, the only reason to buy an 06 is the gauges look cooler.

I think it all depends on how much hes gonna "mod" it.

If hes keeping it simple without going through forced induction or doing anything past I/H/E and kpro/reflash, then I would suggest 05-06 because:

- generally people say the 05-06 head and taillights look "nicer".
- You get that extra "10hp" with a z1 if you want to feel cooler about it
- Suspension doesn't mean a thing because if you go coilovers, you're replacing that shit anyways, correct me on this if I'm wrong. Same goes for exhaust (of course unless you're keeping these stock but thats usually where people start modding?)
- Like the post above, you get a SLIGHTLY cooler looking cluster, and slightly nicer front seats

Edit: If you plan to install foglights yourself on your future rsx, stay away from 02-04 lol. Its not even an argument anymore as it is an obvious fact that 05-06 fog lights are way easier to install since you don't have to cut your bumper.

OP lives in Canada and I think it is hard to find a 02-04 type s with decent mileage compare to 05-06. I don't know how it is like in Manitoba but in Ontario, atleast in my area this is how it looks like:

http://www.autotrader.ca/a/pv/Used/...=Richmond+hill,+ON&cat1=2&cat2=7,11,10,9&st=1

Getting a 02-04 with high mileage then have to do a motor swap might not be the route hes looking for.

OP needs to speak up with his intentions. Does he plan to rip the car apart and build it the way he wants or does he want do just throw in some light mods and enjoy his ride?

or be like me. pick up a 02-04 with a z1 swap  but the looks are all personal preference. i love the 02-04 more, obviously, but still like the 05-06. if you can find a low mileage 02-04 then hop on it. but i know how hard it can be to find a decent one

All you have to do is get an a2 ECU and engine harness? Same price for Kpro regardless what motor you have then.....
its still what... a couple hundred dollars more at least? never look into it bc i dont have an 05-06. but i was also referring to the initial purchase of the vehicle (newer car, less miles, higher price)
