I just joined a team for the 24hrs of Lemon. No, not the one in France, that's Leman's. This one is for car of dubious mechanical integrity and drivers of dubious moral integrity. The 4-man team are putting together a car for a 12 hour endurance race and a later 24 hr race. Hopefully if all comes together I'll get about 4 hours of wheel to wheel racing (such as it is) which I expect to be more fun than the average track day. Anyone know where I can get a good deal on a racing suit?

If I remember correctly the 24Hour Lemons is a variation of GRM's $2009 Challenge. Where competitors cars can only cost $500 or less.

And given what they did to last years "cheater" (a team brought a 750i BMW to a $500 race...) I would think he'd not want his RX8 to be any where near the track.

6: LOUSY DRIVING

* 6.1: Individual Lousy-Driving Rule: Lousy driving--which includes, but is not limited to, unnecessary contact, overly aggressive driving, chopping off other cars, unsportsmanlike conduct, lack of car control, just generally being an idiot, and/or proving an undue pain in the butt to fellow competitors--will result in a black-flag penalty for Lousy Driving. These penalties will be punished as follows:
o 6.1.1: First Individual Lousy-Driving Offense: Mandatory driver change; offending driver can't return to the track for three hours.
o 6.1.2: Second Individual Lousy-Driving Offense: Driver loses his wristband for the rest of the day.
o 6.1.3: Third Individual Lousy-Driving Offense: Driver is out for the rest of the season, beginning immediately.
* 6.2: Team Lousy-Driving Rule: Teams are held jointly accountable for the Lousy Driving Offenses earned by their drivers. These penalties are punished as follows.
o 6.2.1: First Lousy-Driving Offense: Mandatory driver change, 30-minute vehicle impound.
o 6.2.2: Second Lousy-Driving Offense: One-hour impound.

* 6.4: Touching a Temporary Barrier: Physically contacting a cone, tire barrier, or any other temporary structure placed on the track by the organizers is an automatic Lousy Driving Offense With Exteme Prejudice. (You don't even want to know what that means--trust us.)

I probably shouldn't say too much until we get our car accepted.:shady: Its an older import (not my RX8 :noesr my RSX which I finally sold by the way) of the $500 variety (excluding safety equipment, tires, and brakes). Lets just say my experience with the RSX will come in handy. I have tentatively been put in charge of brakes and suspension. Since I'm strictly limited by the rules (see Ohsixteq above) my job should be easy. Should be a lot of fun, and if I can survive it:run:, good experience. Anybody can build a race car with gobs of money, but can you do it for $500?ray:

My biggest problem $$ is I have to acquire SFI approved 3.2/A5 rated suits, gloves, and shoes. I have driving shoes (wrestling shoes) but they're aren't fireproof so I'm looking around.

Crow Enterprizes makes some suits, etc. on the cheaper side. But they're also not as fashionable.
