currently have a pioneer avh4300 and i love it. only negative is no navigation so i've been thinking about getting the avic-u220 add on. or is it a better idea to upgrade the whole thing to something like the avic-z130 or avic-x930?
From when I worked in car audio, there isn't really a difference in add-on versus built in. In fact, most of the flip outs that have GPS use the external modules anyway.
I say just add the GPS to the one you have, unless a new unit has some features that you want and don't currently have.
I have the u220 and it sucks, the gps doesnt update fast enough, so it will be like turn left in 500 feet, when your passing the turn. I just use my phone gps.
that sucks to hear. i hate using my phone for gps since im constantly looking down at it in my lap or center console and looking up for the street signs. :run:
F-BOM, i had a avhp4100dvd and to be honest i loved it but if you want to start adding things on, you might as well sell it and look to pick up a newer unit. add a back up camera, and you'll have a faster unit with bluetooth and gps/built in navi.. much better IMO.
yea that's the direction im leaning towards. for the extra money i'd spend on add on's like bluetooth and gps i can just get a newer more capable unit.
