Am I the only one disappointed?

Am I the only one disappointed in the new Acura Integra prototype?? I think not... 🤣 Spaz (Zack) and Ruben joined me in my 1st Podcast. We analyze the whole situation, SPECIALLY, the painted exhaust tips... 👀 I decided to do this podcast and comment about the 2023 Acura integra reveal due to a post in Reddit I made. The amount of response from the community was overwhelming. A lot of enthusiast didn't agree with Acura's move and we analyzed every angle of it.

I couldn't believe it when I saw it specially because of what they (Acura) wrote in their website. Talking about heritage and crap but that's not what they released.
It's actually nicer than the DB8 (old 4 door Integra).

Let's see what the coupe version looks like.

And for what it's worth, when the DC5 came out, DC2 / DC4 owners had the same reaction lol!
"No DOHC VTEC, No LSD, they killed the B Series!"

No this, no that, yet look how many people own a DC5...

Apparently there's no coupe version... 😭
that car has to sneak up on a glass of water to get a drink...

Oh well... not surprising to be honest.

DC2R > DC5R
EK9R > new CTR

What was everyone expecting? A saving grace lol!
They want to be green and possibly full electric. They're pulling out of Formula 1, it doesn't get any clearer than that.

Their passion to build cars like in the 90s is long gone.
It's pretty hideous. It's like the strategy when releasing new cars is to make the previous gen seem a little less bad. I remember hating the 2006+ civic coupe, but now it looks great in comparison.
Please correct me and help me understand this?. I haven’t kept up much with this chassis..Is this motor similar to the civics 1.5 turbo?. Even though the Rsx wasn’t officially badged as a “Integra” in America, Acura of America was quick to acknowledge the chassis Japanese heritage in commercial advertisements. I feel it’s more of a money move similar with the Nsx which has no ties to Japan.
If their keeping with upgraded options the “Type S” is naturally connected to the NSx, Rsx and Integra iS in Canada.

So it would be appropriately badged as a “Type R” specific to Acura. Seems to be a juxtaposition when in comes to figuring out how to proceed with higher options. If the “R” version becomes available they’ll probably install the FK8 Type R motor into the chassis.

What’s your perspective on this?

Uhhh...what? I don't understand your train of thought here.

Why wouldn't they do a Type-S? That's Acura's performance line now. The NSX got a Type-S. The TLX got a Type-S. If the Integra gets a premium model, it will be a Type-S.

I also don't fully understand either but that's alright. And I also don't understand why they're bothering bringing back the integra if it's just a rebadged civic/accord whatever, like the RSX became. I guess it's no coincidence they ditched the 'RLX' at the same time. Their lineup is crowded, boring, and doesn't offer anything you can't get at honda. They should just sell themselves to bmw and audi already if they want to be them this badly. But, I pretty much hate everything about cars now. Everything they do makes me dissapointed that theres a market for it, and that's the truth.

I'm just a grumpy weird beard who doesn't understand "earth dreams". Yeah, we let that happen lol
Definitely a early morning post on my behalf lol. Thanks for the insight. I was thinking purely on the Integra chassis. That plane flew right over my head. You guys are correct and valid in the bewilderment of my post reply.

And I don't understand why so many people view the Integra specifically (but other Acura models too apparently) like it was ever anything BUT a slightly upscaled Civic alternative. I agree that the new model is disappointing and I think they could have done better with it, but where does this expectation that the new Integra would be some high performance sports car come from?

Yes, both the Civic and Integra had sport models available (Si, GS-R, Type-R, etc.), but overall, at least 90% of these cars were economical commuter cars, many of which came with slush-box automatic transmissions. If you keep that in mind, the new Integra is to Honda's current lineup what it's ALWAYS been to Honda's lineup...you want a compact that's a little nicer and sportier than the Civic? Integra.

I also don't understand why people expected a coupe. Cars overall only make up a 5th of auto sales in the US these days, and an even smaller percentage of those are coupes. Seeing as Honda currently has ZERO coupes available aside from the NSX, anyone who legit expected a coupe here was setting themselves up for disappointment.

Also not quite sure what you mean about the RSX? Yes, it has some commonalities with the EM2 and EP3, but it's not a "rebadged Civic."

Personally, Honda's lineup went downhill after 2001.
I can't believe people had hope for 20 years!

You want sporty, go to Toyota/Scion/Lexus!
They know what they're doing: IS 500 / RC-F / FR-S / Supra / LFA, something for everyone!

Oh and the RSX looks a lot like it haha!

I'm not saying the RSX and 7th-gen Civic are dissimilar, but calling it a "rebadged Civic" is inaccurate, IMO.

Yeah i was being a bit too bitter!

But the 94-01 integra was a different drivetrain from the civic at the time. By 2006 you could get a civic SI with everything that a RSX type-s had, should be my point. I think that's part of the reason the rsx was ditched altogether, it just became redundant.
