I got my CT Engineering exhaust today and am sort of pissed.I Thought the Comptech/CT exhaust was a true 2.5 exhaust after the flanges are removed from what people here posted.Clearly this isn't the case unless they made the tubing smaller when they were switched to CT Engineering.Hmmm...i think i just bought a $700 paperweight lol.

Shoulda waited for the dyno results from the RAZ exhaust. Cheaper than 700 bucks too.

from what I was told, there were no changes from Comptech designed product to CT Engineering. It is the same product and the same company, just new owners and a new name.

how does this help, it just seems like a usless advertisment

I don't have any shops around i would trust fabbing shit up so i bought this thinking once the flanges were ground out it would give me a true 2.5 exhaust. This piece of shit bottlenecks down to 2.385 on the outside where the tip attaches to the muffler so it's smaller yet inside, and the od of the piping is only 2.495.....oh well.

It's not. I'm not selling anything. It's just a custom exhaust system I've been putting together and sharing my results with the forum.
As soon as someone starts a thread on that exhaust then you can chime in. jkoppk didn't ask about your exhaust, he asked about the CT which he already purchased.

that is how it work, it is rare to find an exhaust that is measured in ID and not OD. I can tell you that the difference is maybe 1 or 2 horsepower at best so it really isn't that major of an issue.

I guess it's not too big a deal i only put $150 out of pocket for it after selling my other car parts locally, and i'm sure it flows better then the 05 stock exhaust i am running now.

See -- this is why I built a custom exhaust. There is a hole in available products for supercharged guys. With a supercharged car, you either can pick n/a exhausts which are usually too restrictive or a turbo exhaust which is straight through and far too noisy for daily driving. Turbo cars reactive very negatively to any backpressure and will cause the turbo to spin slower, but the turbo removes a lot of exhaust noise, so a straight through system is a good match for them. N/a moves far less exhaust, and can take some back pressure / restriction to aid in sound removal, but the ones that are available are too small for supercharged applications much past 7 pounds. What I did was make a 3" non straight through system that, according to my calculations, should flow plenty of cfm at 20" water to be basically lossless on a supercharged car.

If it tests out well on the dyno, perhaps crsx can pre-fab them and sell them in the store? I mean people are asking me left and right to make them for them, but I can't, and all I can do is tell folks what parts I used. Sounds like a good opportunity to me -- especially given that kteller (the piping kit) would probably put them together and do the fab. They already do that for magnaflow components.

He expressed dissatisfaction with something he had. I offered him a solution that I was trying. I don't think I'm violating any forum rules by offering solutions to people. I stand to make zero profit from providing information. This is the technical forum, after all.

don't get it confused, I am not saying anything about the advertising. My comments were based upon you not answering the question and plugging something else in return. You are correct in saying this is a techinical forum and the guy wanted an answer to his question, he didn't want an advertisment for what you think he should have bought.

Chris, I must respectfully disagree with your views on this, and I think you've misunderstood my motives. Even though he did pose a question, which I didn't answer, he did conclude in his first post that what he purchased wasn't going to work (he called it a $700 paper weight). This is the only reason I brought it up. If he had simply asked if CT/Competch were the same, and had not indicated the exhaust he had purchased didn't fit the bill, I wouldn't have brought it up.

He is going through the exact same problem that I'm attempting to solve for the supercharged community (which he is a member of) and that is getting an exhaust system that is large enough to flow the higher end supercharged power levels yet quiet enough for daily driving. I haven't event had a chance to tune and test (on the dyno) my car with the custom setup I pieced together, which is why in the thread on this system, I have discouraged people from copying my work until it is tested, so I'm most certainly not suggesting he should have done what I'm still testing and telling people to not do yet.

Chris, this is my last post on this thread, so I'll let you have the last word on this if you want, since after all, it is your forum, but I will say in conclusion that I feel very much like I should chime in on the technical forums when another supercharged person expresses dissatisfaction and frustration with finding a pre-built off the shelf exhaust system when that is the *very* problem I'm trying to address for the s/c community as a whole.

I'm sorry if it came off in a manner I didn't intend.

So to bump a thread for clarity... the CT engineering exhaust is the SAME as the old Comptech Exhaust that is 2.5"?

I know the flange has a lip that is smaller, just want to be sure this the same exhaust. Mine finally gave up on me after like 100K miles. I want to replace it with another one and if I can't find it used I'll be getting this.

I know i called them and it was like $700 bucks :run:

A nice piece for sure, but my friends rusted out within a year sadly. So i didnt see the value in it personally.

I was under the impression it was the same as the previous version. You need to dremel out the flange to match the piping.
