I am having an issue with my driver's side axle when installing my engine into my car. I am trying to get the axle to lay on the transmission when installing the engine/trans, so I can easily install it once the engine/trans is in place.

If I leave the axle under the trans, will I be able to get it into the transmission or will I have to remove it from the wheel hub to install it?

Why not just remove one or both of the bolts that hold the driver side wheel hub to the shock/coilover? You should be able to flop the hub assembly downward enough for the axle to clear the tranny by moving it around.

Edit: Engine coming in from top or bottom?

Cool. I've done that a couple of times now. Just try to keep the CV joint in the axle from coming apart... it can be a bitch to get it back in if it does.
