Does any on have a boosted base yet???? was it worth the money put into it and are u happy with the gains??? i want to know this cuz i dont want to buy a kit from CN and feel like i should have swaped the motor with an S or R motor.....im leaning to the swap alil more than a turbo base... swaps are alot easier than a bolt on turbo...to me anyway :dontknow:

any info would be appretiated

if you have an automatic tranny, the most you can boost daily cause of the engine is 9lbs and eventually, you'll have to upgrade your tranny.....LEVEL10.
you will do mid 14's with stock tires. If you decide to upgrade your tranny, you should be able to dip into the 13's at 9lbs. The tricky thing is that the more powerful you are the better the tranny performs, which means, stage II with a LEVEL10 tranny will yield theorectically mid to high 12's or better.

The thing is, a base turbocharged RSX is like $8-10k, but you will be happy!!!

With the swap, you could boost i think up to 12lbs and u'll have the potential to do 12's with an upgraded clutch. The thing is, a swap that was turbocharged with an upgraded clutch is probably the same price assuming the swap with the tranny cost $5000.

The choice is ur's, just ask yourself, do u want to transform your car from an automatic to a stick?????????? Why did you buy the automatic tranny in the first place? I'm assuming you have an auto.

If you have the autotranny then be rest assured a tranny upgrade will be needed either prior to installing a turbo or there after. If you have a manual then "happy boosting". You will be satisfied with a CN turbo kit, I've had the stage I setup for almost 4months. The car and turbo have taken a beating through just about every type of weather situation and she still pulls hard. An engine swap may be easier but it's nothing compared to bolting on an extra 75whp+.

How about for the 5Spd? I have 76,000 miles.. still thinking on whether to do little things to rebuild/strength my engine/tranny then going turbo, or just doing a swap of some sort.

If you have that many miles on your engine then I'd suggest a swap so you can run a newer and more powerful engine. Or you could boost the engine until it dies and swap at that point. Then you'd have a turbo now and a swap later.

I don't see why a full base model exhaust would not work on the Type-S or K20A, seeing as though you are able to swap a full A2 exhaust sytem to the A3. Maybe not the best thing to do, but it works.

If you got low miles and don't travel too much, go for the stage 1. It's more power, but more maintenance. If you're like me, go for the swaps.

Yes, the Type-S motor has been mounted to a 5 speed, and also the K20A3 has been mounted to the 6spd. It's been done, should bolt directly up.

sageprime1, what psi are u running? and is that on a stock auto tranny? If so, what numbers are u putting out, what do you think a 1/4 mile time would be with aftermarket tires with some light volks? I want to tell them to set it at 9psi, but i dont want my tranny to go just as yet.

I'm running 9psi and won't go any higher cause of the engine and the tranny. ON the track with the stock tires and rims, i'm making 14.6. Three runs and this is what i've made with reaction times .046, .254, and .113. Yes these are unbelievable r/t times, but i'm sayin, its not impossible. With lighter rims and sticky tires, such as Dunlop SP 5000 or 9000, i would guess a faster 60' time and a faster trap speed. Maybe lower 14's, i.e. 14.2 or 14.3.

I'll let you know what my timings will be when i:
1.get better rims&tires (maybe 14.3)
2.get a high performance torque converter w/ CM flywheel (maybe 13.3-14.1)
3. rods & pistons (here i come 12's)

how is the tranny holding up though? I'm guessing its the stock tranny? Also, what is the WHP your putting out?
the tranny stated to slip the day i drove off of Cybernation Motorsport's lot. I have to use the shiftronic function to shift gears and let of the throttle some to help the tranny go into gear, however, talkin to some transmission specialist, they say this is damaging, to let off the throttle to allow it to shift....they say it's better to slip than what i'm doing. Yes, this is the stock tranny.

OH JUST TO LET U AND ALL BASE AUTO TURBO'S KNOW, LEVEL 10 IS HAVING A SALE ON THE TRANNY: REG. PRICE 3840, SALE 3240, YEAH $600 IS A SALE!

i've put out max 268whp on the dyno, but i made the a/f ratio a little rich from that point to be safe, now i'm puttin down 261whp at 3rd gear with 215lbs of torque. Man, when that turbo spoils, it spoils, u should see my dyno sheets, the hp and tq curve is like a L wiht the angle on the top!

Cybernation MOtorsports has a lower price for the k20a3 engine turbo kit, i believe it's now 3499, plus installation which is i believe 800. You will need to upgrade your clutch, which is 400-500, and installation is 500-600. HELL YEAH IT'S WORTH IT IF U WANT MORE POWER AND SPEED. Power from a stage I k20a3 engine is anywhere from 230-300, 250-270 seem to be the average. i'm puttin down 268 and gettin stronger with other upgrades such as my tranny and weight reduction to name a few. You have to ask yourself, is it worth. Turbo equals lots of maintainance such as more frequent oil changes and fueling up more often! Don't forget about emmissions inspections depending on ur stage and if ur willing to take the risk. If not, go Greedy or REvhard, or even HKS!

9psi and 268whp and 215tq just to run 14.6s in the 1/4 with an auto base? Damn that sucks...klutchrsx ran similar time with just bolt-ons and hondata on a manual 5spd.

So I'm guessing EternalRSX makes the most whp and tq on a base right now with CN stage 3 correct?

dude, i suggest you get the tranny first. Why? Cause if get the turbo and the tranny doesn't hold, now u'll be hurting it while waiting for your funds to grow in order to upgrade it. At least upgrade the Torque converter if ur automatic before gettin the turbo. If ur a stick, u'll have no choice but to upgrade the clutch cause it will burn out quick!

Yeah, i know 14.6 does suck, but that's not at 268/215. That power was my max on the dyno, i back the power down to be safe. And yes, that was with stock tires. I'll update my timing with my upgrade t/c, rims and tires! Hoping for low 13's. We'll see!
