Hey guys, gals. I blew my 02 Type S up and i'm wondering if a base model motor will swap right in? I found a super good deal on a motor and i need some input. Any would be good. Dumb I know, but funds are a little tight is all. It has manual Trans.

I had a k20a3 (base) swapped into my rsx type s before I bought it and it ran fine. I don't really know how I didn't blow the motor without k-pro. I believe the rev limits are different, and it doesn't have true vTec. But everything else lines up fine. Be ready to lose some power. If you can find a k24 for a good price is go with that. if your heads in good shape you could probably sell that for around $400.

The motor will swap in, but I don't know if the engine harness will plug in to everything. You will also need a base model ECU to have it run properly. The base and Type-S exhausts are different. But a full header back exhaust system will probably work. Do it right the first time, that way you don't have to do it again.
