Ok i did a search and found guys with woman problems and DIY black housing LOL but I could find any posts of people that have changed the headlight bulbs. The stock ones just arent bright enough for me and was curious if anyones done any experimenting with aftermarket and what theyre opinions are. Thanks

Wow, I was just going to ask the same question!! Well, I first got APC's they are called Extreme Plasma White or something like that, H1's of course, 100 W, 4000K, but they were pretty cheap. I can't afford HID's, so these are like the H1 bulbs in a blue lenses...maybe kinda ghetto but they were only like $40. After I got my piaa 1700X foglights installed I really couldn't afford much more....But I wasn't too pleased w/ them, they seem almost factory to me, I know they are not quite as yellow (cuz the guiy showed me how it looked w/ only one bulb in and the other bulb still factory) but still not that great of a "stimulated HID" look. Not the bluish tint, like a nice 6000K that my sweet piaa fogs have. So I went back and tried the piaa H1 bulbs ($30. more than the APC's) Absolutely NO difference. The Piaa's are also 4000K but are 110 W (that 10 more watts doesn't make a visible difference) So I stuck w/ the APC's, but I'm kinda in the same boat, I think this is the best I'm going to get w/o going HID.

In my personal opinion, there are no well made aftermarket bulbs. If you were to do a quick search you will find many complaints about even the most prestigious of aftermarket bulbs including the Phillips Blue Vision and the Sylvania Silverstar H1 Bulbs.

roxie: Be careful using bulbs that have a true rating of "100 watts" -- that might damage your wiring (in other words, I wouldn't go higher than 55 watts). Are the "APC" bulbs the same as the "Euro Light" bulbs?

yeah, they say 100W, and the install dude told me that too but never mentioned anything about it being harmful...If 55W are what's 'common' how are they bright then...that's a huge difference in wattage!!! But I do recall my prelude used 55W's, but they were the crappy yellowish stock bulbs. BTW, do your Catz put out a clean white lite or are they really purple-ish like the ad states?? I like the bluish lite, not too hip on purple, I've seen them.

Believe it or not I actually sell this stuff on the side of our Audio/Video Store but Every car is different so thats why I asked. I ran Piaa's in my Civic and loved them but the RSX stock bulbs are already alot brighten that my Civics stock ones..so I take from what I hear that even the Piaa's arent brighter than stock? And someone asked about Euro light..I have two opinions...They are a good clean light bulbs but they do break or burn out quite often.

roxie: ...they say 100W, and the install dude told me that too but never mentioned anything about it being harmful... Someone more knowledgeable then myself will have to address this for you -- I just remember being told that you don't want to try using a bulb that exceeds the rating of the stock bulb, without doing some wiring upgrades first. Of course, this excludes the claims (and all the bulb manufacturers seem to have them) that a given 55 watt bulb will produce the light output of a 100 watt bulb -- those claims are fine, just so long as the bulb itself only draws 55 watts.

...do your Catz put out a clean white light or are they really purple-ish like the ad states?? They do indeed add a very subtle hint of purple color to the light output; I think they look pretty nice!

krossoverr33: don’t waste your money on bulbs...get some HIDS Agreed -- and I'm saving for them now!

Are lets say the APC's, Eurolight, Ect. your cheaper cleaner white bulbs any brighter than stock or would I just be wasting my time? Any how hard are they to replace..i feel like a moron but I havent even bothered to look under the hood at the enclosure. Hope I dont waste your time with my questions.

DsCivicEx: I had a pair of Euro Light bulbs in my car for about 3-months, and was quite happy with them. If you want, I would be happy to check and see which specific type/model they were (they had just a very faint hint of blue in them). They seemed brighter (probably due to the light blue coloring in them) but I suppose it's debatable whether or not they actually were!! ;)

Installing? Yikes! I know there is a thread around here about how to install them, but even the owner's manual is pretty helpful in this regard. Just to forewarn you: the bulbs in the RSX are kinda difficult to get to, so be patient, practice your wrist/hand contortions for a week prior to attempting it, and be prepared for some small bruises when you're done!!

I have SPP superwhite H11s in my fogs and they're pretty white

They probably won't look as good when compared to your HID though :) Maybe you could get HIDs in your fogs like a couple of people have...haha, that'd cost a lot more though

SPP? what's that? Where can I get them? How much? That's close enough in color. I'm just sick of my fogs looking so yellow. LOL Are they the same Wattage?
