K20A3's are garbage.....mediocre low end, decent mid range, crap for a top end. I bought a base so i could take that extra $ and mod, well after the fact i wish i had an S just for the NA tuning of a k20a2. The k20a3 is an econobox disguised as a "sporty motor".RSXtreme703 said:u wanna expand on that? u sayn we arent gettn anywhere by adding shit other than FI? well...
if u get pulled by a grand am gt.... u need to come to texas and let me show u how to drive that base of ures. :driving:coldrsx said:^i will be the 1st one to laugh at type-s owners when i beat them as i have many a time at auto-x/lapping sessions...but the k20a3 is just a bad platform...nothing really going for it on the NA side. Sure you can make it marginally quicker to keep up to an S...but it will cost you a fair amount.
with that for say $3200 or there abouts, you might get near a type-s in 1/4 mile...but whats the point of "getting near"...
i still love my car, if i didnt i would sell it, but the only reason i like it is from my suspension mods that enable it to out handle most things on the road. But when i go to track days....hell even a grand am GT pulls on me in the straight.
k20a3's are good all round platforms for mileage, semi performance, fun etc....but if you want to a engine to mod and gain much from it....look elsewhere.
K20a3 + FI is a good start but weak internals worry me as do low relative gains
K20a2 swap + toda kit= very good choice for $/gain
K24 swap= all round best option
