It's fine once in a while but don't do it on a regular basis. Always be sure to rinse the car really well and apply some wax/sealant when your done.
EDIT: To the post above mine, I really don't think dawn would strip the clearcoat. It will strip carnauba type waxes just fine but dishsoaps won't remove synthetics like Zaino or Klasse.
Yes, dishwasher soap is a bad idea. Substituting regular liquid dish soap for dishwasher soap is a terrible idea. Ordinary dishes and hand soaps are intended to create lots of foamy suds.
