First go buy yoru shift knob from Honda or from someone that has it... I got it from the dealer and it came in a box... out of the box there will be the knob it self as well as our items in a plastic bag as shown in the picture below (from left to right and top to bottom the items are
1) ring that will replace the stock silver ring (one side is smooth the other is rough)
2) tube that will fit into the ring when you put the center console back on the car and will hold the collar up (note the gaps between each "leg")
3) the crusher that will go in between the knew shift knob and the tube so the tube doesnt crash if you over tighten the knob. and
4) the zip tie that will go around the ring
Start by taking off the Console from your car.. to do this just pull at where the cup holders end sorry for the bad pic but i only had my cell, You might want t use a cloth to go between your fingers and the console caz it might give you a scratch or something ... you will have to pull pretty hard if it is the first time you are removing the console so pull with all your strengths... PS remember to remove the old shift knob (or any shift knob) for that matter before pulling. Once you get the front two clips out there will be 4 more (2 on each side) you will get the hang of it once the first two are out.
Once you have the console out you have to flip the sleeve inside out as in the pic below
you can see that the old silver ring is still in and that there is a ziptie that is around the collar, carefully cut the ziptie so you can remove the silver ring (becareful not to cute into the collar) For me, i used a steak knife and carefully cut sideways caz i couldnt fit a pair of sizzors into the gap to cut the ziptie. After you remove the ziptie and the ring it should look like this
Now you can take the new ring and put it where the old silver ring was with teh rough side facing down (or having it inside the collar while it is inside out). Position it where the old silver ring has been and use the new ziptie provided and carefully tie it into place, it should look something like this after you are done
you can now flip the collar back out so and put the tube into the ring. Note that inside the ring there are three little dimples. make sure that the gap's on the bottom of the tub fit into the collars dimples. When you are finished pushing it in the collar should look like this. (if you did it wrong the tube will pop out when you try to put the console back onto the car so if it fits it is probably done rite)
Now you are pratically finished, all that is left is putting the console back onto the car... which is just the reverse of how you took it out... meaning you have to slip the back end of the console first and push it in and then follow towards the front. if the tube poped out when you try to fit it thru the shifter don't worry just try to put the tube back in right (there is only one way it can fit into the ring and the shifter so if it fits it is right and just try till it fits. After you finally got everything in place there are just two more things that you need.. the crusher and the knob .. first put the crusher on as if you were putting on the knob... note that the flat side of the crusher faces up (see in the pic below if you don't know what i mean). After you screwed the crusher on screw in your knob till it reaches the bottom... you might notice that the numbers might not be stright and what not but to fix that just fiddle around with twisting the crusher and knob. here are some pics of the finish product as well as a shot of how the crusher should look like.
