I bought the xenondepot 5k in the last winter group buy, and i was wondering if DIY black out headlights adversely affects the light output at all. I mean if the black doesnt reflect as well as the chrome?

Thanks in Advance

Actually, you'll WANT black housings. It reflects too damn much with the chrome, light goes everywhere and the glare is horrible.

I have DIY JDM Headlights w/6000K XenonDepot HID's and the light output is fine...couldn't ask for anything better. Just like someone already mentioned, having the extra chrome is probably what makes the nasty glare everyone is always complaining about, so the black actually helps.

soccerman002 is right. Having diy blackouts is like having an anti-glare absorbent shield. Our headlamps are designed for D2R hid bulbs, not D2S like most of the peeps here on the forums have.
