DO NOT buy from Atomic Street

I'd love for someone to sticky this if possible. Maybe it doesn't meet the requirements. Regardless, read on.

Cliffs Notes:
Ordered fog lights from Atomic Street
Their harness changed and draws power to the switch constantly
They won't respond to my emails and just told me to take it to a mechanic

Details:
After doing my research on Club RSX, I found that most people recommended that I buy OEM replica fog lights from Motortrend or Atomic Street on eBay. I made a decision to buy from Atomic Street becuase no one ever had a problem with their plug and play harness.

I went to eBay and found their user name and a matching auction for 02-04 clear fog lights. Here is the original listing:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=150162967021&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=005

About a week later the package arrived and I unboxed things to find a box for yellow TSX fog lights. Immediately I was nervous about this purchase because 60 bucks is 60 bucks and I'm not about to go blowing it on stupid crap. I opened the inner box and found the correct parts. Everything was good to go, but the box did not include instructions or templates, so I made my own.

A day later I was installing them. I did the passenger's side and my buddies did the driver's side while I was installing the fog light harness on the interior. Once everything was buttoned up, we plugged it together to find a huge problem.

The switch (which I might add looked cheap as hell and did not match the interior at all) stayed illuminated at all times, even with the key out of the ignition and the fog lights off. I double checked my wiring to make sure it was plugged into the only hole in the fuse box that it would fit into and investigated the harness further. It seemed that the harness was drawing power at all times. With everything re-installed, I found the same problem.

Immediately I came onto Club RSX to find that another member was having the same problem with his fog lights from Atomic Street. The harness had been changed about two weeks before I ordered mine and there wasn't enough information out there to draw my attention to the issue when I searched.

I emailed Atomic street. This is the string of emails from newest to oldest:

If it keeps draws power when your engine is on that means the relay is bad.
But if it draws constant power even with engine off that means the wires are
not connected correcly.
Please take it to a mechanic shop to correct this problem.

It draws constant power even with the engine off and no key in the ignition.

I am not the only one with this problem either.

I have not received a response from them after sending three more emails telling him that I took it to a mechanic and an electrical engineer who both told me that the harness was built incorrectly.

I've done everything I know to do short of filing a claim with eBay. Since the parts are already installed, I'm not sure what my options are, but I did want to let you all know that Atomic Street is not the place to buy from anymore. Please do yourself a favor and keep your money rather than giving it to this guy.

Hook it up, Mario. I just hope its not the shitty harness that they have been shipping.
I finally got a response today after threatening to escalate things with eBay and Paypal on Friday.

"Sorry for all the trouble, have you try to take the fog lights to give a
professional a look?
Because we highly recommand for professionals to install all our item(s).
Thank you "

to which I responded

"I took the car to an electrical engineer and a mechanic who both told me that the harness was drawing power at all times. The issue is not with the installation. The harness is not built properly.

I included two different pictures earlier in this email exchange to show you the differences between the harness you used to ship and the harness you now ship. Several of my friends have purchased the same set of fog lights from you and have had the same exact problem.

Please advise your manufacturer that they are manufacturing the harness improperly. Rather than having constant power to the LED in the switch, it needs to be a switched input like it used to be.

I will repeat my request for either the harness that you used to ship with this product or a partial refund of the $60 that I paid for this item."

I understand your frustration but one persons bad review does not warrant a sticky on a forum with 90,000+ members.

Give them neg feedback
It's not just one person's experience if you read the thread.

As I understood it
from
members of a national RSX website, you were one of the only vendors that
sold the correct harness that worked with zero problems. I am very upset
to
see that your harness has changed very recently, and I am very upset that
received one of these defective harnesses.
OK, I apologize, 2 people having a problem does not warrant a sticky advising 90,000+ members to avoid a certain seller.

What I see is two phrases saying clubrsx members recommend him, and you saying that you, and another had a problem.

I am just being reasonable.
Cool. I'm just trying to help Club RSX members from getting screwed by buying the wrong harness from what used to be a reliable vendor and not having the problem corrected. ;)
Look what atomic street did=), lol they are getting a third party involved due to my neg feedback, I explained to the third party and offered i would withdraw feedback if they send me that old harness they used to use=-), Lets see what happens.

Hahahahaha...

That's funny. Wonder what will happen when I give them negative feedback. It's amazing how they can type in perfect English when they are talking to SquareTrade but somehow all of my stuff is half broken.
yup. i hvnt left feedback yet
will see how it goes if they send me the right stuff

been a month already
So you make three. I bet if we all went to eBay together they'd be less reluctant to do something about it.
good luck to you guys! hope you get the right harnesses (i got mine)
$60 bucks for fog lights you should be happy they work at all.
"BE HAPPY THAT THEY WORK AT ALL"?, ....... WTF, I can go to walmart and buy the shitty blue colored ones and they last forever. Half the price but lookl like shit. Why is this? Acura charges way to much for a set of fogs and the lenses are glass which of course crack. The walmart ones are made of lexan and last twice as long. Also the OEM ones are a bitch to install and the e-bays are easy (if you get the right harness) to install. Now I'm not saying that they are the best but shit for $300 you can buy like 4 sets of cheapos and they are the same thing as far as looks and function.

Anyway the only problem with the e-bays is the harness so if you can get the right harness then your golden. As for the lenses OEM and e-bay ones have the same issue, glass, which cracks.
Still no response since my last email.
Not sure if anyone have said this yet, but... you get what you pay for. :dontknow:
:iamwiths:
Filed a case with SquareTrade. I encourage you all to do the same.
i have an open case but nothing is happening... i left the last message
as of now my returned package is on its way back via ups and hopefully once they receive it, i can have what i paid for

oh btw, its been like a month since i bought it

They filed a case with squaretrade on me. they explained that they will contact the producer about the issue, but that i need to send them back the harness so they can look at it to see whats wrong. my problem is 1) its prob the right harness, just made incorrectly and halfassed, so i dont want to be stuck waiting a few weeks just to get the same harness back to install again...on top of that paying for shipping to send that ish back to them...i just want a guarantee that i will receive the old atomic street harness before i send anything back to them. eh whatever, im begining not to even care anymore. goodluck on your cases. let me know what happens for you
I'm waiting on an old version of the harness from another CRSX member right now. My case has no response, but they don't typically respond on weekends anyway.
He responded with an agreement to withdrawl feedback. WTF? Neither of us have even left feedback yet.
atomicstreet is the most retarded seller/person ever
