I went to my friend's property yeaterday night and he has a pretty well lit section of driveway that is about a mile long (he lives in the sticks, it used to be an old farm, but they converted it to a house).. it's paved really well actually. But i noticed when i launch my car, it POPS RIGHT OUT OF FIRST GEAR.

I just installed ESMM, i have toyo proxies, Kosei Rims, installed the BC N+ coilovers, and i am running Penzoil Synchomesh..

I am curious, becuase this is really annoying. my friends were doing 1/4's all night, and i was basically watching becuase i tried 3 or 4 times, and each time, it popped out. I even held it in gear pressing up, and it still pops out. I stopped, becuase i dont want to hurt anything. Also, there isn't any wheel hop either.

But if i start off normally, and then FLOOR it, it doesn't pop out.

Do i have a fucked up tranny? what and how can i go about fixing it?

Cliffs:
- First gear pops out, no matter what, during a hard launch.
- If i start normally and FLOOR it, it doesn't pop out.
- I have virutally no wheel hop, so im left clueless. :questionm:questionm

Thanks guys. I searched, but everyone has tird gear and second gear pop out. So i was wondering since it was first if it was something different than the synchros.

could it be my clutch, since there is a huge load on a launch? could it just be slipping? i mean, it legitimatly pops out. so i think it might be the tranny.
I'm guessing this is beyond clubrsx'ers.
my guess is clutch, and ask some tranny specialists
It could be many possible things just make sure you dianose it once properly i dont think you would like to pull your tranny out several times.
Do you ever downshift to 1st?
I do.. not often but I have. Not good huh?
hmm,i have kinda a similar prob.when i am driving in 1st(not getting on it)and shift to second it pops out kinda when goin into second.like i push clutch in,pull shifter and it pushes out real easily.but if i dont shift and let off gas it doesnt pop out.i am woundering if it is similar porbs.as u?could be clucth

Yeah, as a general guideline, don't downshift to 1st
Try switching the tranny fluid to Honda/Amsoil/Redline. Try it.
I feel as if it's most likely the shitty RSX tranny. I tried it again today to just see what it would do, and yet again, it popped out. I feel a popping when it pops out as well through the shifter.

I never downshift to first, i don't see the need since our cars are already tuned really high. You can basically START in second if you are rolling.

And as for the tranny fluid, i had really bad second gear grind and thrid gear popout before until i changed to this tranny fluid. Now second and third hasn't happened once. But now first is all fucked up :-( I don't see how trying other fluids though would hurt, so ill give it a try.
i vote tranny fluid, change to amsoil
So it says that it could be the detent springs? i have esmm, but i should probably pick up a tranny mount as well. Hopefully it won't allot the play involved in disengauging the first gear during launch.

I'll give the amsoil a try, then tranny mount, and if it still does it, i will look into getting my tranny looked at by a professional.

Maybe even send it out for a rebuild (i forgot which member does it, but it's the guy who is selling the new shorter gear set, $450 :D)

Thanks guys!!
crsx does rebuilds...btw

Its not those springs, most likely its the syncro teeth that are chewed up. Easy rebuild though.
