Which program is better for autox when you do upgrade your ecu w/hondata. I do bounce off my rev limiter all the time. At the same time, I want my engine to last long also.
K20A2-1: Stock VTEC point and stock REV limit.
K20A2-2: 5200 VTEC point (necessary if your car has an intake system) and stock REV limit
K20A2-3: Stock VTEC point and 8600 rpm REV limit.
K20A2-4: 5200 VTEC point (necessary if your car has an intake system) and 8600 rpm REV limit
I am leaning in program (2), but it sure nice to have (4) 8600 rev limit, except my engine may die quickly. Decision....:smilemad:
A crew of NorCal RSX autoxers are on their way to Torrance as we speak and have an appointment with Hondata tomorrow morning (they have my ECU with them too). They are going to bring up the autocrosser problem of bouncing off the rev limiter (I do it all the time as well), and try to convince them that they should make a fifth program with an intermediate redline (between 8200 and 8600).
If they won't, it looks like I'll be getting a shift indicator to remind me to shift well before 8600 on the autocross courses.
You should call them up tomorrow morning and tell them that like Mark, Jeff (the 2 guys down there, I think their appt is at 10 PST) and Shaun (me), you'd like a program that is better perhaps for autocrossing.
On a separate note, I know the person who had their base model as the test car for Hondata... They finished up her car this weekend. From what I hear, she did an impromptu drag with a Type S with the 8900rpm limit hondata ECU program, and majorly took him off the line! He caught up eventually, but hrm..makes you think that the base manual may be an awesome autoX competitor with that extra initial torque.
