Gear Crunching

Once in a while when im ripping on my beautiful baby at WOT and redlining sometimes when shifting into 2nd or 3rd (also seems to happen more on sharp turns) I go to throw it in gear only to hear the gears grinding. Once paused for a second, rpms lowered a little it will go into gear. Now my question is, am I just getting overly excited through the ride in VTEC and am just slightly missing the gear or is it the 2nd and 3rd gear grind thats popularly known. The clutch is deffinetly and always completely engaged so that option is eliminated. This never happens in the daily driving though. Thnx for any Info.

Yeah, third gear grinds happen a lot with DC5s... there's been a bunch of posts on it. Do a search ;)
2nd and 3rd gear grinds happen for me once in a while too, even with my clutch far down, it doesnt matter what rpm. It happens around turns mostly. its just the nature of the tranny. My dad, whos been a mechanic for 30m years so i trust him, says its because the transaxles are moving at different speeds around turns, it may grind. Shit happens he said, hehe...

How about READ. All the grind topics didn't specify how or when it happens I thought maybe I was getting happy with the stick when racing wasn't sure if it was actually the same issue every one else was having because it never happens during normal driving.
Error 404 Magic Ball not found....

Mileage?
Aftermarket Floor mats?
Previous Owners?
Maint?(trans fluid change?)
Video (duplicate problem)
85k miles
Stock Floor mats except for winter and i throw in the rubbers.
There was a previous owner(Apeared to be a golfer(found tees in with the spare)and was bought from west palm beach).
Guess I could do a tranny flush.
Dont have a digital recorder :(
use royal purple synchromax/mesh whatever, its supposed to cure the grinds... so ive heard... take it with a grain of salt...
I have an 05 w/ 20K on it and it happens once in a great while. It sucks, but that's the major defect w/ DC5's. :dontknow:
I never had grinding issues :dontknow: and i have a 2002

Might be the luck of the draw or driver..

only time i heard a grind was when i get lazy and tired and let out the clutch a little too early

Deff on the to do list. Ill let you guys know results.
Try changing your fluid out first like JPSlick said. I am currently using Amsoil MTF and it elminated my 3rd gear "hesitation" that most 05/06's get.

GM synchormesh is another good MTF people on here use.
Not to sound rude but what does a floor mat have to do anything with gears grinding? Anyways, I get the same thing every once in a while when I redline it but what RSX owner doesn't? Its a commom problem so it's all good, I guess.

just out of curiosity did you change your tranny fluid out by yourself? how hard is it?

Yes its the major reason for grinding gears. also the JDM cup holder causes wheel hop if you dont use loctite.

Why what do you consider a mod? I've seen redouts as a mod. I thought a mod was anything that you modify on the car?
