u had to have kept some amount of fluid in there for it to not seize on u.. almost happend to me last year..

if your PS rack is good, remove all that shit and fill up the rack a little and seal it up

So there was no fluid in the pump and you still had the belt turning the pulley on it.

The line busted and I drove like that maybe 4 times. There was no fluid when I drove the car like that so the pump was working dry.
