A final tribute to my beloved CBR. You have truly blessed me with 2 years of excitement on two wheels, but I have thought this through and feel that it is best to give you up...

A last pic...

But what is this...are you procreating???

Oh wait, you've mated with an ITALIAN?

Long and short of it, I traded my 600rr + some cash for a 2003 Aprilia Tuono. I have my dream bike!!! It so happened that someone on my local forum doesn't ride this beauty as much as she should be, and was looking for a dedicated track bike. Initially, he was looking for a 06 R6 or GSXR. So I asked him if he was willing to take a look at an 05 CBR600RR. The rest is history...

This baby is AMAZING!!!! For those of you unfamiliar with the Aprilia Tuono, is its a 1000cc V-twin based of the engine of the RSV Mille, and like many naked bikes, tuned for more midrange as opposed to up top HP, as well as having more comfortable ergonomics.

I haven't dared to try ripping it open at WOT, but already I can tell how much TQ this baby has...and at such a LOW RPM!!! When I'm cruising about, I still can't get used to the fact that my RPM is at such a low range.

This is definitely not a beginner bike. Ham fisted pilot will find themselves flying off the back of the bike...it definitely takes a LOT of throttle control. More experienced people will find themselves grinning from ear to ear in 1st gear at even 1/4 throttle!

This puppy is LOUD. When starting, it is almost like I just started a lawnmower right next to my ear.

Ever since I heard a ducati w/pipes, I fell in love w/the sport v-twin sound. This is no different.

I am the third owner of this bike. The first owner bought it with:

CRG Levers
Some sort of steering dampener
CF Front and Rear Fenders
Aprilia chip and pipe (slip on, but its LOUD)
Frame, swingarm, and front axel sliders
Probably some other things I don't know about.

What I love about this bike is its upright position. Coming from the CBR, this thing is a LazyBoy ECliner or something. It definitely makes you feel like you don't HAVE to be racing, but what's awesome is that if you want to, you just open it up ever so slightly and you're off!

The handling is also amazing. Even though this bike is heavier than the CBR, the wide handlebars make turning in SO easy. I haven't taken it through some hardcore twisties, but I imagine that going from a more aggressive angle to the other side would be a little harder than on the 600rr. But I don't ride very aggressively anyways.

Here are some other pics. While some will probably not thing it is sex on wheels like I do, I don't really care.

GK, you were right about Vtwins. They have a completely different character and charisma. This thing really is, when opened up, a bat out of hell.

I think your new aprilla is missing the rest of the front end. or is that part of the design
LOL that's the design my friend. Half naked.

RSX_fan2003: The bike IS similar to the 2000-2003 RSV Mille. The engine is tuned for more tq as opposed to uptop HP. The seating position is MUCH more comfortable...I have sat on a RSV before and it is the standard seating positiong of a supersport.

But for the most part yes it is very similar. In fact, most engine and exhaust systems for the mille are interchangeable with the tuono.
