I just purchased K&N air filter cleaner for my DC sports CAI air filter, had 15k miles on it. Damn that thing was dirty.

When i raise the soap off with running water, at least 1/4 bowl of black SAND was left in the sink. The water was black. That thing was hella dirty!!

After it dried, i oiled it with air filter oil. Reinstall. Went for test drive DAMN so theres where my horsepower went. My air filter was so dirty it affected my performance a lot (at least lost 10-15 horsepower) i wasn't even aware of it until i reinstalled a clean one. Sand, dust, whatever was affecting my air flow.

I mean 3rd gear was pulling so much harder than before. I can even hear the sound of my intake sucking up air.

As a reminder, guys, clean your air filter. I waited 15k miles, should've done it a long time ago.

Funny you mention this, I'm past my 30k service and I'm going to replace the air filter and pollen filters myself. I think I'm also going to get the K&N air filter. Did you get a pollen filter too?

I just got the K&N filter CLEANER, not a new air filter. It's well worth $15 having it clean. Power were lost day by day mile by mile i didn't even notice it until it was fresh and clean, THEN i feel the difference.

Yeah I was also considering this as well.
Good thing you brought it up ClA.

WANNA COOKIE?
(You bastard)
Do it, maintance as important as mods.

Yes, i want my cookie, and your girl.

I agree that you lost some hp, but I think 10-15 is probably an inflated guess.

Stock filters can't be cleaned like the K&N....just replace it if it's dirty.

If you read the instructions for the filters, it says that you shouldnt clean it regualrly, i cant remeber how long you shoudl wait. All i am saying is, dont start washing the damn filter every weekend. I know some of you out there are extremists. The filter oil is designed to hold on to the dirt that would otherwise get into your engine, but it also holds the dirt to filter the air better. If you dont beleive me, go somewhere and read a K&N box.

I read the whole box, and it's instructions. Don't see what you talked about. But i am not saying you are wrong.

Yes, i feel the difference. At least 10 HP. You haven't been driving my car so you are not in the position to argue with me on this one.

BlackNite. Hope you got the stuff i send you. Let me know if you did.

I agree with this statement. I'm not arguing with anybody, just voicing my opinion. And yes the K&N cleaner works well with the Injen filter.

It's been dyno-proven that the K&N drop-in does nothing to power on the RSX on its own...a clean filter will always feel better (although 10 hp is a bit much).

Filters don't add horsepower, but dirty filter will reduce power.
