Hey guys, I had a retrofit done a few years ago. It was a minimoto from retrofit source. The installer put in new housings, projector, ballasts etc...

A few years later, there started being issues since he didn't wrap the wire connections well and moisture got into them. Unfotunately the guy who installed them was no longer around and I was desperate to be able to drive, so I took my car to another guy locally and he took out all the HiD stuff, except he left the housings and projectors, and put in some LED bulbs. Problem is it is SUPER dark and I can't see hardly anything while driving at night, and its super dangerous. What are my options? I still have my original OEM headlights/housings. Can I just swap them back in? Is there a brighter LED bulb that may work? Or should I take it somewhere legit and try to put in a new HiD kit? What would be the simplest and most cost effective solution at this point?

If you still have the original headlights, that's the most cost effective solution for sure. I don't know if there is a "simplest and most cost effective" option here, although swapping out headlights is not difficult, IMO. You do have to remove the front bumper or at least remove the fasteners from the top portion so you can let it hang down. There are two bolts on top of the headlights and two underneath that hold them in. You'll need a fairly long extension to get to one of them. Aside from that, it's just unbolt, remove headlight, put new (old) headlight back in place and bolt it up.

I only suggested putting the stock headlights back because it seemed like you were looking for the cheapest solution to simply have functioning lights again and I assumed that you weren't up to the task of installing HIDs since you paid someone else to do it previously. If you're at all handy and don't mind spending a bit more than you would on new halogen bulbs, you can easily just install new HIDs as the others suggested. Acme makes a nice budget HID setup.

This may be what I end up doing. I did spend a lot of money on the projectors and housings and iris etc... I am fairly handy, I do my own oil changes, I just changed my own serpentine belt, and power steering pump o-rings today lol. Is there a good resource that you know of that gives a good tutorial of how to wire up a HiD ballast to an RSX?

This was something I was thinking of doing, but I have no experience with that. Would wiring up new ballasts be difficult? I really did like the HiDs, but I was afraid ti would be quite difficult doing the wiring.
It's incredibly simple, you just have to read the instructions if you're unsure. I suck with anything electrical, and I managed just fine.

Yeah, there's not really any actual "wiring" involved. It's all just plugging stuff in. If you can change a serpentine belt and you can read a diagram, you can likely install an HID kit.

Thanks for everyone's encouragement. I did this. I took my stuff apart, plugged it all in, and it is working great :) I appreciate you guys.
