vr6chris just put down 530 whp/460 wtq w/ just a spacer and ARP rod and head bolts. Pretty amazing really. That's 3.5x the HP and 3x the torque that this motor came with stock. Is there another motor that can do that reliably?

This is without replacing rods or pistons. Not bad.

I'm pretty sure he had more than 3 mods to put down 530whp.

But yes to answer your question there are motors that can do that. Not to sound like a fanboy or anything but the supra motors can lay down 3x their stock hp reliably and there are RSX guys doing 500+whp on the stock blocks too. LS_ motors are another worth mentioning.

I guess I should have worded it better. It was meant to show that it's one of the few N/A engines that when you turbo it can take around 400whp-500whp reliably. I guess I just pointed it out for a point of interest. The stock compression is 10.0:1 and without using a head spacer or lowering your compression you can boost it to 350whp. Over all just sharing info about the engine.

When you talk about the 2JZ are you talking about the N/A or F/I engine? I know that engine can take massive amounts of power plus a few others such as the SR20DET,RB26DET, etc. 4g63 and some others I don't know the names of(MR2 or the Euro Escort)

So yeah I guess that was just enlightening people. Cool thanks for the input.

the 2JZGTE is the one that can handle all the power. The N/A version cant take as much because it is built differently and has a different compression than the F/I. so I have heard.

There are plenty of N/A engines out there that can take modest amounts of boost but there longevity is questionable. for every 3 that make it past 20K miles boosted there are 10 that dont.

The 12v VR6 was originally designed and made to be a TDI 2.8 close angled 6(15 degrees instead of your normal 60 or 90)but at the last minute VW said bollocks to the diesel idea and turned it into a regular gas engine. The internals were made to stand around 450lbs. of wtq this is where the VR6 gets its toughness. People have easily attained 75,000-150,000 miles off of a VR6T and a bit more off of a S/C'd VR6. However for N/A applications they are fun but will never ever get to the amazing power that a N/A K20A2,z1 has the capability of achieving. I believe the most power achieved N/A from a 12v VR6 was around 230whp and 215wtq and that was with an upped displacement from 2.8l to 3.1 and all the other N/A mods you could do to it. If I was rich and 7k was nothing to me I'd do it but right now ummmm I'd rather wait and get a new/used car.

As for the reliability there a quite a few VR6T's 12v alone that make it quite easily. With VRT's it's all in the engine management since unless we are going for 550whp+ our internals don't have to be changed. Engine management DTApro8,034 tuning, and a few other standalone engine managements are quite expensive and tuning them is hard in certain parts of the country since VR6's aren't the most popular engines out there. So for the ones that do go bad it's the engine management that's usually the culprit there.

I knew that the 2JZ was a monster engine I just didn't know the exact name between the N/A 3.0 I6 or the F/I 3.0 I6. The 2JZGTE's,RB26DET's, are amazing when it comes to boost most I6 engines tend to be able to hold more boost b/c of being inline from what I have learned from books and people over the years. The I4 inlines can be just as good look at the 4g63,SRT-4 Neon engine, etc. To me most engines and their potential are interesting to me I like N/A just as much as boosted engines b/c they are being pushed differently. Oh well I am babbling by this point.
