just got a vis carbon fiber hood for 200 bucks!
brand new but the guy left the tape on the hood ( the tape that was holding all the protective stuff)
took off the tape now i got this



used a heat gun to remove the excess

now looks like this



then used goooff from home depot but its taking off the clear coat :firemad::noes:
anybody got any ideas how to remove this without damiging the clear coat?

Prep-All surface prep solvent and a plastic razor blade should help you out.

If you fancy yourself a painter, you can lightly sand and re-clear the whole wing.

kinda wanna paint the whole car but im scared of messing it up :dontknow:

nice! WD is great for stuff like this too. Wipe her down with isopropyl alcohol and wax it up!

alchohol left a stain on my hood :(
like it took off the clear coat

sholda tried wd40 first
if i only knew:dontknow:

ummm, must be a gel coat thing... we use rubbing alcohol every day at work with no problems on clear coat... Sorry about the bad advice :/

well i tried alcohol before you mentioned it but thanks anyways :thumbsup:
recomend wd40 to anybody!

I was going to say that looks like cheesies hood I remember him asking me the same thing ahahah. Cheese I almost sent this link to you :rotfl:
haha yeah man i showed you the stains on my hood

try vinegar :D
wouldve but already fixed the problem :)
