I think i need a syncro, what do you think?

so the other day i'm driving, and my fucking clutch snapped in two. i have no idea how it happened, but heres a pic.





i didnt know what was going on at the time, but none of my shifts wanted to go in, and when i went from first to second, i had to give it alot of pressure. then it wouldnt take any of them. so i turned it off and had it towed to my mechanic. he dropped the tranny and then i found out about the clutch. so i bought a new clutch plate, had it installed, picked it up the next day. now second gear grinds everytime i shift. no matter what. if the car is in neutral and i shift without the clutch pressed, it'll grind too. theres like, no wall like there should be. the only way i can get it into second is if the car isnt moving, then i can launch the car in second and go to third. to avoid problems, i;ve been going from first to third, but what do you think it is? i have a feeling its the second gear syncro.

can a syncro just come loose from shifting with no clutch?
