Hi,
Just wondering, when you install multi channel amp where you put your speaker cable directly to your amp, do you disconnect the speaker wire from the headunit to wiring harness or you just leave it like before?

Thanks

i had an integra with a 4 channel amp in the trunk, i basically spliced the wires that go to the headunit and coupled them there. Not the best, and definately not for the enthusiast but i could never tell and crutchfield guy told me it'll work fine anyway. Alternative is to run wires from speaker to amp and that's a whole lot more trouble. I'll be doing the same as i'm getting a rsx this week so try and tell me how it goes bro.

I'm gonna use a new speaker wire to run the speaker to the amp, so i'm just wondering, what do you do with the old wire? do you just disconnect it from speaker and let it sit there or you actually cut the speaker lead and put a tape on it?

Thanks

you can do it whatever way you wish, i always run new thick wire (16 awg for internal speakers) from the amp to each individual speaker and hook them up directly to the terminals.

You CAN run the leads top the harnesss behind the HU but i REALLY dont like this method. it 1- increases wire length which induces more resistance, which means heat build up, and loss of clarity. also, any time you jump to a different wire you bleed off a bit of energy due to differences in the metal of the wire... not to mention going from larger to smaller... all that aside, yes it will work, and you probably will not notice much of a difference with a smaller amp, however it can and has caused problems, and the more power you push the more issues you will notice. honestly, take the time and run to each speaker.

Sweet, I guess I'm gonna run new speaker wires from the amplifiers directly to the speaker. For the old cable, you just leave it there right?

By the way, another noob question, what connector do you use to connect the amplifier power cable to AGU inline fuse holder? Do you even use a connector or just plug the stripped wire into the fuse holder?

Thanks again!!!

just plug it in. my guess is a screw fitting will be on each side, so like a battery terminal block, or even like an amp terminal... you just loosen the screw, fit the wire in, tighten down tight, then go. and yes the stock cable is factory wiring, leave it be... and do NOT cut the stock wire or conectors...

another question, hopefully the last one, I noticed that in the factory wiring, they wire the tweeter and the front speaker together, then paralel it to the head unit,

do you think is it worth it to run a new wire from stock tweeter and parallel it with the new cable frontspeaker to the amplifier? My front speaker right now is JBL GTO 626 and they already have a built in tweeter on it, so i'm still thinking whether it is better to still use the stock tweeter and put extra work on putting those cable or just leave it and use the front speaker only.

Thanks again for your explanation!!

Kontol. I'm a new member too, but I've been using crsx for about a year. Not too long ago, I did the exact same thing as you are trying to do now.

My opinion is that the stock tweeters are crap. Once you take them out, you'll see how small they are. If you can, go out and get a set of 6.5" components (rather than using 2 way full range speakers), and put a real tweet in. You will most definitely hear a difference from the stock system -- type r's sound wicked.

Oh, and don't even bother trying to use the stock wiring, it's a waste of time. Your sound quality is only going to be as good as the wire you connect it with.
