whoa hawk brake pads? front and/or rear? care to share? :)
ok this is fairly common in the uk and usually caused by one of the following so a couple of questions-

- what compound are the hawks? (often too hard for road use)
- did you put copper grease on the back of the pads?
- did you install the oem anti-squeel shims?
- did you bed the pads and new discs in properly?
If they're Hawk HP+ (or more aggressive), they will squeal and it won't go away with time. It's the compound of the pad itself.
ok there hawk hps pads there just the basic hawk pads not aggresive

i did not put any grease on the back of the pads
no i did not install the ainti- squeel shims i dont even know what that is
(is it that thin metal thing that goes between the brake pad and the pistons?) if so i only had them on the fronts
sounds like lack of lubrication, or you got the grease on the pads... even aggressive pads shouldnt be unbearable. Id take it back apart and check for lubrication wherever the pads touch other metal on the caliper, ie. piston, bracket... and if you used BRAND NEW rotors, you need to clean the surface with brake cleaner first before using them or they will make horrible noise.

+more rep for pics!
well right now seems like i need to lube up the back of the brake pads, use the oem shims( not sure what that is), and clean the rotors since they are brand new, and brake in the pads properly.

also it sounds like the pads are rubing on the rotors or something, could that be because there is no grease and the pads are sticking or something??

the shims prevents it from making noise. i drove it without the shim guards when i had my pads replaced last year... oh man it made so much squeaking haha.

their thin plates that goes on the pads...
yea but it squeels really bad while im driving around as well. i dont even want to drive it it sounds like its going to blow up or something
I would recomend taking it to a brake shop right away, shouldn't really squeel when driving around,

Sorry in advance and Please don't take this the wrong way but you obviously have limited brake system knowlage, it is the single most important part of your car it should be left to those who understand it fully. you could easily cause loss of life by fitting parts incorrectly.

It is possible your new pads are now contaminated with the oil that is on the discs when they are shipped, they could be in need of replacement as the oil can sometimes get absorbed,
everything is fine, we figured out that the dust guard was bent and rubbing on the rotor, that made some of the noise go away, and then we figured out that we put the metal bracket on upside down on both rotors and that was rubbing on the top of the rotors. everything is fixed now. just stupid mistakes
care to share the part numbers for the front and rear pads? i'm planning on hawk pads to replace the stock ones soon. thanks.
no problem

front:HB181F.590
rear: HB145F.570

does anyone know what i can use to clean the calipers, im afraid to use brake cleaner because i repainted my calipers. any suggestions? when i greased the pads i got some grease on the calipers

how's the intial bite on these pads?
just so its out there: make sure you realize that pads have a break-in period too, just go drive on the new pads and nail the brakes a bunch of times... it works fast.

For cleaning the rotors you have to use brake cleaner, you dont have to worry about the caliper paint if you dont let the brake cleaner sit on the caliper itself for an extended period of time, try when the wheel is jacked up and its in neutral, spray the farthest part of the rotor away from the caliper and just hold the rag against the rotor (front and back) and spin the axle/hub. Other than the time jacking the car, its fast.
glad you got it fixed :)
yeah same here.

i've been loving this mod from the first time i saw it on a US car.

i've been wanting to do it as well, but cant seem to let myself save up the money for it.

how is it? any improvement or feel over the other set?
is the jdm brembo brakes direct bolt on? and do i need the whole suspension or i just need the lower control arm?
