If you have aftermarket front sway bar, forget about installing the JR race header!! It will come into contact with the bar and grind like crazy while driving !!

Can't believe JR didn't think of this.

What sway bar. I think the toda might clear it with no problem.

Rattles with the stock one too.
Use exhaust wrap around the swaybar.
I have the same damn problem. At first Hotchkis said in another thread about the Comptech race header that they didn't want to redesign their swaybar and offered a solution-dimple the header. What a cop out. They did say later that they needed a car to look at to redesign the bar, don't know if they did it though.

In addition to the fact that the JR might rub against the sway, do you need mm to get rid of the rattling? I have a torque dampener right now. I don't want to switch over to the bucket o' vibes.

I found that if I moved my swaybar upward and backward that would provide some clearance. What I did was I got an Energy Suspension sway bar mount kit and machined the urethane bushings to raise the bar in its mounts. Then I machined the bushings to offset the bar rearward. I had to rebend the bushing mounts so they hold up the bar properly, the bushing mounts have slotted holes that allowed the rearward offset. I was able to move the bar 3/16" higher and 1/4" rearward. It pretty much solved the rubbing, but on hard downshifts (like shifting from 4th to 2nd and not matching the revs) the bar would hit, and also hit if you popped the clutch in reverse-both situations that wouldn't normally occur. I installed the ES motor mounts, that completely cured the rubbing but I hate the vibration. I have an EP3 with the stock 25mm front sway bar and didn't want to install a smaller bar, or the same size bar like the Toda. I found that the rear mm raises the engine a bit (stock rubber mount lets the engine hang more) and reduced the clearance that I gained by moving the sway bar, but they also reduced engine movement so the header doesn't hit anymore. I'll remove the rear inserts, that will allow the engine to drop down some and it should reduce the vibration.

wouldn't a larger (by larger I mean thicker) front sway bar up front = more understeer = bad handling? I guess thats good for 1/4 mile, but I have bad understeer as is and wouldn't want to have to get a 25mm sway in the back just to balance out the front. The ITR is 22mm by the way for the back.

Do you have to change the sway bar when you get the JR header or is that just as an added upgrade that you put on your car?
