he's the only one I know that still run on the original belt, the rest of gone through at least 2 belts and maybe still counting lol
I'm going about a month and a half now with the JRSC Race and still on the original belt with very little belt dust in the engine. I just installed the 3.4" pulley and it looks a little off wrt to the ps pulley. The blower pulley is about 1-2 mm to the left of the ps pulley. I haven't had any problems yet though (knock on wood).

One other thing, the magical bolt that everyone keeps stripping out. I took a carriage bolt and fed it through the pulley side of the tensioner. This make it so you have a square object in a round hole. :) Then I took a lock washer and nut and put them on the engine mount side. This has done away with any slipping problems, but it did take a lot of customizing to get it done. I used a 3/8 carriage bolt, which is quite a bit larger than the one Jackson does. Also, I had to cut the top (round part) of the bolt in half using a grinder because the pulley wouldn't go flat. I don't have any pictures, but I will post some up shortly.
Sorry to jump in so late on this one (and for a potential hijack), but I've been having one hell of a time with this tensioner bolt. I know I could tighten my belt a little more (there's more than 1/4" give) but if I tighten that bolt anymore, it starts to bend. I even snapped it one time. I had to rig up a fix like you mentioned above, grinding down the head of a carriage bolt and threading it from the front to the back. But even that started to bend. I now have a shitload of 60mm 8x1.25, which are the exact size of the original, bolts on hand in case the tensioner bolt snaps on me again.

The problem is that the lower mount for that bolt, the non-threaded mount, does not remain flush against the scissor bracket, it actually bends toward the front of the car.

Anyone find a solid fix for this?

My belt finally shredded on me this weekend. One major problem was that my new 3.4" pulley wasn't lined up with the p/s pulley. It seems when I pulled the old 4" pulley off, the supercharger shank came out just a bit...wtf??!!! Anyway, I tapped it back in until the pulleys lined up, put on a new belt, (now using a 6 rib goodyear until I can get the 7 rib) and everything's working like a charm. Power seems more instantaneous and consistant.

I guess this is a word of caution to those upgrading the s/c pulley, be careful taking off the old pulley and make sure the s/c shank is realligned when you put the new pulley on!

Hey campers, sorry it took so long to give you an update but I finally have one. I figured out the problem with the belts and why you guys are tossing them. The problem is the Jackson tensioner setup sucks.
I was never really impressed with that scissor bracket, but I've found that its held up for the most part. The only problem I have is the tensioner bolt bending out toward the passenger side. Other than that, I haven't had much of a problem with it.

i've heard a lot of guys bent that bolt, how much tension do you put on the belt? By bending that bolt, the belt must be very tight?
It's currently bent and I can, with some effort, pull the belt up about a 1/2". I've already broken one tensioner bolt, this is my second. Maybe I just pull too hard on the belt to test its give... :dontknow:

Long story short it is cut in 2. Somehow it welded itself onto the blower and I couldn't get it off. Because I was having so many problems with it, I wanted to go back to the 3.4" for better realibility.
I had that same problem with the 4". It wouldn't come off the shank for the life of me. I had to tap it off forcefully, which actually pulled the shank out a little bit...

I wrapped the pulley in a terry cloth and hammered the damn thing off. You get funny looks from people when you're using a hammer under the hood, lemme tell ya'. Screw 'em, my car is faster.

Does the shank just go back in easily or what? How do you know if you got it in all the way? Man I hope I don't have this problem when I get my blower pulley.

Jamie
I didn't notice the shank was pulled out a bit when I installed the 3.4" pulley. I did notice the pulley was misaligned, though. 2 weeks after installing the 3.4" pulley, my belt shredded. That's when I noticed that the shank was actually pulled out a little bit. I tapped it back in with a hammer until the pulleys lined up perfectly, everything's been running like a charm since.

You just have to take care to make sure everything is lined up well; tapping the shank back was easy, just took some time. I wouldn't even worry about this unless you have a hard time getting the 4" pulley off and have to tap it off - it may be easier for some. All I know is that my damn pulley wasn't going anywhere unless I hammered it off.

:iamwiths: :iamwiths: :iamwiths: I don't understand why you guys are beating it with a hammer to get it out. Bolt comes off with a lil elbow grease and pulley slides off like butter
We're talking about two different pulleys here.

yeah we were talking about the blower pulley all this time
Yeah, you're right. I was thinking of another thread discussing crank pulley removal.
