I was really looking forward to getting the JRSC in the next few months, but after reading this thread I'm starting to change my mind. I just want to get the Street kit and run it at 5psi. Would I have any problems with snapping belts? I dont' want to have problems. Granted I know I will have a couple, its just that this is my only car right now and I want to be able to drive it everyday.

dude the JRSC kit is awesome, once you got it you'll love it. Don't waste your money and get the street kit, get the race kit instead. If you drive your car hard every now and then you shouldn't be any problem with the belt. Just make sure it on there tight or else it'll jump. Regardless 5 or 7 psi kit you got, if you drive your car hard, it'll hurt the belt. I'm on my 4th belt right now, first one was because it was loose(this is when I first had the sc on and I didn't know jack about it), second one was snap into half at the track(what can I say, I launch that shit HARD, made the front of the car hop), 3rd belt was also at the track as well. I go to the track almost every week so my driving style pretty much floor-it-as-i-go everywhere. A lot of people has the kit and still on their original belt. There are a few of us here having problem with getting everything aligned. Like it was mentioning in the previous few posts, the problem definely is the tensioner. It isn't strong enough and it can flex back and forth and guide the belt into the wrong direction and cause it to shred. I hope JR will design a stronger tensioner soon to cure this.

oh yeah, I noticed whenever I launch my car hard and it hops, more likely i will run into problems with the belt after, this definely proves that the tensioner moved somehow since everything else can't really move(they all pulleys and they had to stay in place)

Ron,

We have plans to produce a SC for the RSX and 02 CIVIC Si. At this time I have very little information on the kit but it should be released towards the end of the year. Please check back with us or check the website for any other information.

i would love to know why this is happening to you Alpha... i have never had any issues with the belt. You ARE routing it correct right?
I believe I am. I route the belt from the crank pulley to the first idler pulley to the PS pulley down to the SC pully around the second idler pulley then to the altanator back to the water pump then AC then back to the crank. Is that correct?

Let me know when your available and we could meet up at the Tustin Market place or something.

I think you routed it right because if you routed it wrong the belt would seem too short.

Look back on page 10 to see my diagram

sorry to hear bro.

the autozone kelly springfield poly-v 6 rib x 78.5 has been getting the job done so far for me + it's affordable.

Do you have a part number for that belt?

Have you guys ever noticed that in the installation instructions on page seven, illustration 12 Jr is running what looks like a 6 rib belt. I thought that was interesting...

So Comptech has a facility on the East Coast? (Your profile says that's where you are) I have been unable to get any response from the El Dorado Hills folks. Not in my attempts to schedule a dyno run, not in my offer to show them the K-Pro.

Prospective JRSC buyers, remember that guys with problems are going to post negatively more often than people with kits that have given them no problems. I have had absolutely no problems with my belt (going on 3 months now), like many other owners. However, all you guys have scared me enough to have a back-up belt in the back of my car for just in case :nervous: .

I dont think my posts are negitive. I am just sharing my experiences with my kit. I hope that I can get this resolved so that I can share my success with everyone here.

Anyway, I installed a 6 rib belt today and the 7psi pulley and WOW, what a huge difference!!! I love it. I took a test drive for about 30 miles which would be plenty of time for a 7 rib belt to shred on me. By the time I got back I popped the hood and noticed that the belt jumped one grove over on the PS Pulley only. All the other pulleys were fine. The belt itself was still in excellent condition because it was the 6 rib belt but a 7 rib belt would have shredded like that. So what would cause this? I believe I tensioned the belt correctly but it must have been loose enough to jump right? How tight is too tight?

Didn't mean negative like this product sucks, but negative posts about problems with the belts. There has been little of that type of negative posting. The guys with the problems always say JR takes care of them, so at least that's a positive  .

By the way alpha, I see in your sig that you have a hi-flow cat, what brand do you have? I would like to honor the intent of the law  here in Texas and have one on, but the Carsound one I had on rattled like mad. I have attempted to contact the company I bought it from twice, but they have yet to call me back. :jigglemad

my belt jumps a rib over towards the driver's side if it's loose. in terms of proper tension you'll just have to play with it. once you get it down to the right tension the belt would not jump anymore. But since you have a new belt make sure to check it often because even if you got it down to the proper tension, the belt will stretch over time and it'll jump a rib over again.

CHK did your race header rattled prior welding on the carsound HF cat?

I'm currently running the JRRH with test pipe and have fixed the rattle problem. But i'm going to weld on the carsound HF cat soon and need to know if it'll cause extra rattling.

that is because the belt isn't tight enough

As far as I could tell, no the header did not rattle before the cat was put on. Right after the cat was put on, it started rattling. One night a few weeks ago when we were having all the rain here, I was driving up from Austin when the rattling started up and I thought something was dreadfully wrong with my car. It scared the shit of me, but I kept driving because I was on the middle of nowhere and the noise finally died down. Then the next night in the rain on the way to work, same noise. Then it started all the time to the point I was embarraced to come to a stop at an intersection (I just kept looking straight ahead not looking at the cars around me because I know I didn't want to see the driver next to me looking like WTF). Anyways, I know this getting long :dontknow: , but I had the cat taking off and no more rattling. The techs that took off the cat said it wasn't the inside honeycomb rattling, but one of the outer edges. Man did it make a racket :firemad: . Now, I'm trying to get a replacement one, but I will still have to pay again for another one to be put in :( .

i see. Jotech wanted $250 to weld on a HF cat. that is ridiculously overpriced even though they are a well known shop. I found a muffler place that would do it for $25.

They didn't charge me that much, it was about $100 less than that. But the reason it cost that much was because I did not have the cat just welded in. They customized it with a flange on each end so that I could undo a couple of bolts and put in a test pipe whenever I went to the track. It was really nice though. I know they charge a pretty penny, but they do nice work. If the place where you are going to do it is doing it like that, let me know, because if I ever get a replacement one, I would like to have one on.
