I dont think my posts are negitive. I am just sharing my experiences with my kit. I hope that I can get this resolved so that I can share my success with everyone here.

Anyway, I installed a 6 rib belt today and the 7psi pulley and WOW, what a huge difference!!! I love it. I took a test drive for about 30 miles which would be plenty of time for a 7 rib belt to shred on me. By the time I got back I popped the hood and noticed that the belt jumped one grove over on the PS Pulley only. All the other pulleys were fine. The belt itself was still in excellent condition because it was the 6 rib belt but a 7 rib belt would have shredded like that. So what would cause this? I believe I tensioned the belt correctly but it must have been loose enough to jump right? How tight is too tight?

you can see how tight my belt is tomorrow dude.... compare it.

damn dude, even the 6 rib is jumping? you MUST have an alignment problem somewhere along the line, it's gotta be.

all of these belt problems still baffle me. like i said before, i wish i lived near you guys that are having problems, i'd love to compare our setups and maybe help out.

I had the same thing happen with my 6 rib belt. Then I tightened it so it wouldn't jump andnow i have a pulley that squeeks. I think it may have been too tight. I have a new pulley assembly and belt coming tomorrow. Hopefully I can get this figured out soon.

what do you mean by pulley squeaks?

When I just start the car, there is a squeak coming from the engine bay. Also when it is warmed up it goes away. Then when you drive the car it only does it above 3500 RPMs. I think it is a pulley because it started gradually, and it would go away after the car warmed up. Now it won't go away. It will just get a little quieter when it is warm. I am sure(hopefully) that it is the idler pulley. If you look at the pulley it is a little crooked. It doesn't sound like the belt slipping sound. This might be the cause of my throwing the 6 rib belt (only on the P/S pulley) one rib. It is definately a squeak. Like a squeak if the bearings were messed up on the idler pulley. I will figure it out when I get the replacement parts. It doesn't sound like it is coming from the blower. I am hoping it isn 't the blower! Pray for my sake it isn't the blower!

One other thing, the magical bolt that everyone keeps stripping out. I took a carriage bolt and fed it through the pulley side of the tensioner. This make it so you have a square object in a round hole. :) Then I took a lock washer and nut and put them on the engine mount side. This has done away with any slipping problems, but it did take a lot of customizing to get it done. I used a 3/8 carriage bolt, which is quite a bit larger than the one Jackson does. Also, I had to cut the top (round part) of the bolt in half using a grinder because the pulley wouldn't go flat. I don't have any pictures, but I will post some up shortly.
Chris, did you ever take the pictures? I stripped out that hole and need to find an alternative

he removed the whole damn thing...and put the factory tentioner back in place of the power steering pump. i talked w/ him yesterday...he's moving in 10 diff. directions at once...said he would post the photo when able. i believe he might be trying to catch some air first and was strapping the car to a trailer today...so who knows if he will have time for a few days...

well alpha and I compared installs today and they are pretty close. His belt seemed a little looser and the amount the tensioner was tightened down seemed a little less too. The pulleys are obviously different since he has the newer ones from JR. There were no obvious alignment issues or anything. I'm at a loss as to why he is throwing so many belts... :dontknow: then again i'm no expert... i was looking for obvious differences....

nice to meet you alpha... we have to do a SC meet like you said. Get a bunch of people together...

Prospective JRSC buyers, remember that guys with problems are going to post negatively more often than people with kits that have given them no problems. I have had absolutely no problems with my belt (going on 3 months now), like many other owners. However, all you guys have scared me enough to have a back-up belt in the back of my car for just in case :nervous: .
I normally agree with this statement but I know what is causing the problem and more will have problems than less. Not every JR owner is on this site and also Jackson has admitted there is a problem...

This is caused by the problem that I explained ealier in this thread. Jackson thinks that my case is isolated because I am pushing the kit to hard, but I am just running a 3.4" SC and K24 CP like so many others.

The car is actually getting a full roll cage put in it right now so that I can run up to 8.50's. :) Once it is back I will walk everyone through my setup and what I am doing and how I am doing it. Jackson told me the kit couldn't run 10's, so I am going to prove them wrong. :)

I have both pulleys installed and threw a belt the same day. I sent a letter to JR (Keith) explaining this but have not heard anything back.

My guess is that yours is the same problem as mine. There is no good solution right now unless you are willing to lose your power steering like I did.

I am going to try to see if the stock crank pulley and the 3.2" blower pulley from pulley boys helps any. I have a feeling my problem is the crank pulley making the belt hit the tubing. I don't know what everyone elses problem may be. I hope we all get it figured out soon. It is costing a lot of money for some belts. I have only said something to Jackson about one of the belts. Good luck everyone.

What was your problem? How did you route the belt? I am totally willing to lose power steering to get this to work. Also, did you notice that on the idler pulley the belt seems to be riding the edge on the driver side? Mine is and with a 7 rib belt it seems like it won't even have a chance.
