JRSC belts & pulleys: please discuss it here

I know a lot of us JRSC guys having or had problems with our belts and pulleys and a lot of time we hijacking other threads because of it, so I thought it was a good idea to start up on a thread just about jrsc belts and pulleys. The thread is not only for current jrsc peeps but also for the newbies as well so they won't get us frustrated asking the same question over and over again.

I'll start off with one question, I read around and found a member who is using a goodyear 070775 belt which is 7 rib and 77.5 inches long. I tried a dayco belt that was 77.5 long and it wasn't even anywhere close to fitting onto the 3.4 pulley. The dayco 78.9 belt fit extremely well for the purpose. What I want to know is that anyone else tried the goodyear 77.5 long on a 3.4 pulley or is it because different makers make belt a little bit different in length.

by the way CHK how do you check the belt tension? Does Jotech do that for you?
My car is not at JoTech right now and that's probably my first mistake. It broke last week and was towed to closet place, damn AAA fine print. I will be taking it back to JoTech to make sure everything is done right though!

As far as the tension, I just did what alpha or tt suggested, turn wheel all the way over with AC on high and rev the engine up to see if it squeals. Never squealed, so why fix what isn't broke. I'll ask about the new pulleys though.
So how did everything go?

So far so good. It turned out that my crank shaft pulley had a chip in it. How it got there, I don't have a clue. But, it's been replaced and the new belt seems to be holding :nervous: . It sucks, because we are having a meet tonight at a 1/4 mile track in San Antonio, but I'm skeered to run since the belt is so new. I'm just not ready to trust again so soon.

Welcome to the board.

You have a race version with what pulley size?: 4" (5psi), 3.4" (7psi), 3.2 (9psi)???

Do you have just Hondata reflash or K-Pro? There are many dynos but all are different because of many variables.

:D
sorry for the typo

you guys with kpro please do me a favor and confirm if your knock threshold reading is working and not dead at 0.00V all the time like mine
I think mine does that too

I have seen numerous datalogs from numerous cars, and K.Threshold always showed a value. However, you have a base and an unusual setup, hence I'd first check with another base and then call Hondata and see what they have to say.

Well with the K-pro and some proper tuning, you'll find some of that hidden horsepower that you're missing out on. Makes a good difference and it's a good investment toward future modification. :)
ok here is my solution to constantly stripping out the bottom pivot bolt on the JRSC belt tensioner...

i know i know... i shouldnt have got threads in the top hole of both scissors too.. i am retarded and for some reason thought those had stripped out so i told the guy to thread them.... i had to drill the top holes back out (so that was a complete waste of money) and just keep the thread in the hole on the fixed scissor that the bottom pivot bolt goes into. This setup is tight as tight now.. i'm pushing 9.4 psi solidy at redline.

Time to go back to the tuner!!! for those of you that didnt read my other posts. I stripped out the bottom pivot bolt AT THE TUNER when i tried to tighten the belt since we were seeing boost dropping off above 6000rpm. ARGH! VERY frustrating and a costly setback. :thumbsdow
Does anybody know the thickness of the washer/spacers that Keith from JR sends to address the alignmenet issues with the power steering pump?

Thanks
