JRSC belts & pulleys: please discuss it here

I know a lot of us JRSC guys having or had problems with our belts and pulleys and a lot of time we hijacking other threads because of it, so I thought it was a good idea to start up on a thread just about jrsc belts and pulleys. The thread is not only for current jrsc peeps but also for the newbies as well so they won't get us frustrated asking the same question over and over again.

I'll start off with one question, I read around and found a member who is using a goodyear 070775 belt which is 7 rib and 77.5 inches long. I tried a dayco belt that was 77.5 long and it wasn't even anywhere close to fitting onto the 3.4 pulley. The dayco 78.9 belt fit extremely well for the purpose. What I want to know is that anyone else tried the goodyear 77.5 long on a 3.4 pulley or is it because different makers make belt a little bit different in length.

ok....

Do you think that the blower could have been damaged after thoughing a belt?

For those that had this problem, what needs to be done to correct this problem?

the new belt will continue to stretch as you put miles on it. I'm thinking it stretched and came loose therefore caused the belt to jump off the pulleys. I've been monitoring mine (4th belt) for 800+ miles now. as soon as i see boost drop at WOT, i know the belt stretched and needs to be tighten up.
I see you are new to "belt shredding", if you got AIM, IM me, the SN is in the profile, posting back and forth would take forever so just IM me
check that the plates are flush and totally together at the bottom of the tensioner. The bottom bolt may have stripped out and the plates may have separated a bit. It only takes a millimeter to cause the belt to start shredding under load.
Look at the belt and see if it up against the side wall of any of the pulleys...
Look at the belt to see if it's really close against the two idler pulleys, typically the driver side. The belt should sit right in the middle and not trying to climb over the wall of the pulleys.

I believe this was one of the causes for my belt problems. As the guys were working on mine, they noticed that the bolt was stripped.

Shaggy, our stories seem amazingly similar :nervous:, timeframe and all.

Hopefully, this new tensioner bracket and everything else Keith sent will fix the problem for good!
dudes.. this always happens when you strip that bolt... either by tightening it over and over and eventually weakening it until it strips or by putting it under great load at the track or something like that (thats what tt did i think)
yup, wheel hop can cause that
Hey Lanman, can you give me the part number for the new tensioner when you get it? If should be printed on the wrapping for the part. I called and the sales man didnt know wtf I was talking about when I asked him for that.

Don't even bother with the salesman. Call and talk to KEITH. He will get you what you need.

:iamwiths: i always just ask for Keith too... he is the only one that can actually do anything anyways
Thanks for all your input. I'm going to call Kieth tomorrow and ask about the new tensioner and belt. I hope to have this fixed by the end of the week.
I always ask for Keith too, infact I got to talk to him today and he said that they werent going to be ready to ship the new tensioners for another couple of days. He said to call him back in a couple of days to see if I could get one. I am wondering if they only made a couple and sent those out already.

The rest of you get in line!! :)
Just got off the phone with keith and he's sending me another belt but I wanted to get a back-up

I was thinking the gatorback poly-V but wasn't sure on the Size

product number: 4070775 Gatorback poly v belt. I would use this belt for the main and the one Jackson sends for the backup.

Did you ever get your belt to stop slipping? Just curious if you tried the other ratchet or if the size of the ratchet was even the problem.

Jamie
