okie just an update on the belt,

I took the car out for a drive here & there and to work about 40 miles of driving. The hesitation that I used to have at around 2 - 3k rpm when I give it less than 50% of throttle is gone. As for the belt, I notice it looks like the belt is rubbing against something on the driver side of it. The size was about 2/8 of an inch, what do you guys think the belt might have been rub on? The only thing I can think of is the rubber hose that come out of the engine but in order for the belt to do that, it must be loose and swingig up and down far enough to rub on it. I tighten the belt pretty tight already tho.

I thoought you did the re route? I think this will help the rubbing. MIne also is rubbing about a third of the belt in on the driver side of the belt if you look at it from the front of the car. I know it is hitting the hose. I am planning on getting this re route to work, because I dont want ot have a pulley I can't do anything with.

well the 77.5 will not work if you route it my way, you need a longer belt. I'm using the 77.5 because I couldn't find one that is 78.6 or longer that is the problem. Since yours is rubbing on the hose, how long have you had your belt now? Do you drive your car hard or since it's rubbing you are just going easy on it?

Are you routing it the way Jackson says to? I have had my belt for 5 days and haven't even had it on the street yet, because of ecu problems(long story), and the belt tensioner stripping out. The tensioner isn't a big deal but the ecu is. I have to wait until I get it back to do anything with my car. Hopefully by the weekend it will running perfectly again. I know it is rubbing on the hose just by how much has worn down after letting the car warm up the first day I got the belt. I am not going to get another belt until the rubbing is gone. Anyway let me know which way you routed the 77.5 belt.

okie guys, just ignore what I just wrote about my belt rubbing against something, sorry for the confusion. I found out why that belt wear out more more on the side (2/8 of the belt). The reason is that I"ve been using the 6 rib for 2 months now it been rolling on only 6/8 of the idler & tension pulley. This mean that the 6/8 of the pulley will be a bit thinner than the other 2/8. So when I put the 7 rib on, the belt take up the whole width of the idler & tensioner pulley. This mean that the 2/8 of the belt will sit on the thicker part which cause a str8 line mark taht makes me think the belt is rubbing agains something. I went out to the car and look at the way the belt travel while reving the motor, the belt doesn't rub against that rubber hose at all.
I trip too much over this whole damn belt issue I think :dontknow:

12mm only(no 13mm needed)...the allen is cut down by jackson, so you can clear the engine mount...
the goodyear is not as wide as the gates brand that was supplied...so the rubbing by the idlers is not a issue...the slack on the 4070775 is very loose but it tightens up just fine...the stang boys run these belts on their v-8's w/out issue...it is a god sent to us blower boys...really nice...

okay this is strange, the tensioner bolt that was supplied to me was a 13mm bolt, darn JR can't keep their parts consistent. I guess I can buy a 12mm bolt so I won't have to carry two wrenches at always

My original bolt was a 13 as well but when Jackson sent me a replacement it was 12mm, guess they are switching up their parts...

Just to give you guys something new to think about.

I was having the same problem with belts, but I was doing a combo not one else has used, the K24 crank and the 3" SC pulley. I am not sure what was causing the problem, but the belt kept jumping and jumping to the point of breaking. I took off the K24 pulley and things are now fine. I also bypassed the A/C compressor because all the parts are gone anyway and it doesn't work. I am using a 62.5 6 rib poly-v with my setup now and it is working well. One thing that I would recommend is to install the belt, run the car for a few, tighten the belt. Do this 2 or 3 times and that should limit slippage and breakage.

Anyone know if they make a 7 rib 62.5 poly-v?

One other thing, the magical bolt that everyone keeps stripping out. I took a carriage bolt and fed it through the pulley side of the tensioner. This make it so you have a square object in a round hole. :) Then I took a lock washer and nut and put them on the engine mount side. This has done away with any slipping problems, but it did take a lot of customizing to get it done. I used a 3/8 carriage bolt, which is quite a bit larger than the one Jackson does. Also, I had to cut the top (round part) of the bolt in half using a grinder because the pulley wouldn't go flat. I don't have any pictures, but I will post some up shortly.

Okay, I tried to route the belt the way I talked about earlier and there is no way it will work. The scissor pulleys get in the way of each other when routed this way. I dont' know what else to do. I did also use a nut and bolt on the hole on the tensioner that stripped out. I used a regular six sided head bolt and grinded down one of the six sides. This makes it so the belt and pulley work the way they are supposed to. If anyone has any other suggestions on how I can use the K24 crank pulley I would love to hear it and try it out. Thanks.

I found this site from a friend...this is a part number for something like a 61.5" belt...I'm going to get it so I have some room to use on the belt tensioner. I'm now using the 7-8lb pulley for my si..which is the same pully you guys get stock (adds boost for us, because we have a slightly different setup).

But the guy who gave me the link said these are dayco belts and is a 7rib like the stock ones
when you click on the link, put in your zipcode and click enter, it will show, but I guess it doesn't help all that much since you guys will probably need a bigger belt...maybe they have one

also what's weird, is I can't find out how the guy found that part, without selecting a car. I try going through the site so I can find a belt for you guys, you guys are wanting a 77.5 one right? well if you notice my link, the last three are 615...hence 61.5" belt that I want. I tried putting in 775 in place but that didn't work, so then I tried going through to find it manually and that is a pain :jigglemad
