Just finished putting in a K20Z1 into a 2002 RSX type S and it won't start. We are using the stock 2002 K20A2 transmission, the 2002 K20A2 ecu, and 2002 K20A2 harness. MIL light goes off after about 20 seconds after key on. No codes though we cleared the ECU anyway. The car previously ran a stock k20a2 which blew a piston.

We have fuel and spark - the engine actually ran for about 2-3 seconds after we let it cool from a previous attempt.

This appears to be something simple and I'm wondering if the fact that we can't open the throttle by stepping on the throttle pedal is a clue (or manually moving the throttle plate - not that we need to do either of those for a proper start... The ecu should do that). For some reason we can't find anything online or here about a stuck closed throttle - when I look at it physically it looks like it would be stuck closed on purpose (like a lockout by ECU). We must be missing something terribly simple - why can't we move the throttle plate? It's like it's being immobilized and the ECU isn't releasing it. And is this related to not being able to start it?

Is your throttle cable hooked up properly and does you throttle body clear the intake manifold take the throttle body off and inspect it might just be rusted shut.
