I am currently doing a motor swap for someone and I am running in to wiring issues. I have a complete 05 RSX Type S with everything from wire harness to dash harness at my disposal. I removed the dash board already and the wires are different but can be mated with his old harness to make it work. My issue right now is if I can re-use the stock 05 ECU or do I have to use the 05 K-Pro route.

I am in the process of removing the dash and look at everything first hand to see what I am going to be really be dealing with.

Any feedbacks will be appericated.

I'll take pics when i remove the dash board and check out the dash wiring harness.

you could but i would think that you would have to get the dealer to re-program the immobilizer. or just use kpro and simplify things.

Ok, I just removed the dash and the wire harness that goes to the fuel lines are different. Looks like I will be removing the old 02-04 wire harness and replace it with the 05-06.

I'm trying to see if this method works.

Using the 05 steering column with the immobilizer, the 05 Key that was mated with the immoiblizer, the 05 ECU that has the key, immobilizer programmed to it.. I think thats about it.

Wil you think this will work or will the code somehow be erased during the transfer?

The car will basically have all the old wire harness from the 05, (from dash to engine harness), I will even switch out the fuel pump if I have to.

if the 02 rsx is a manual, then i would just keep the dash harness stock, it would be easier since you can use the 02-04 kpro vs the 05-06, the only other prob i can think of is the k20z1 tranny, since its a high frequency.

why dont you just use the 02 base engine harness and just do either k-pro or get a 02 type s ecu and go to the dealer for the immobilizer
will the base harness match up? Doesn't it have extra plugs for the dual runners and etc.. or do I get a type S harness? I have removed the wire harness already from the old car and i am going to test it on the base.

Its already out. lol

The customer bought the whole car so since he wants the whole thing to be a 05, I am trying to make it work without taking backdoors. Making it worth it for him :)

lol, well if he wants to switch everything over to 05 spec... he would have to change the dash harness also because the k20z1 engine harness has to be paired with 05-06 dash harness. I read it somewhere on hondata. The engine harness is mainly because of the transmission.

05 Dash harness

Fuel Line, SRS line harness.

His old Dash

EVerything is 05 wire harness.. the immobilizer is still flashing so I guess the immobilizer needs to be reflashed to the ecu again.?

However, since you did swap out all the immobilizer components, used the 05 key programmed to it, used the dash harness and engine harness.....this should start but im no expert.

I recently swapped my 03 si with this and used this pin out to make sure everything worked. I kept my dash harness and repinned it to match with the 05 ecu and engine harness then got it reprogrammed at the dealer. Compare your customer's pin outs and see if you're missing anything.

Oh man. This is gonna be a headache since even some connector ends have changed between the two "models". Might as well pull all the wiring then.

I'd just have repinned the 05-06 engine harness and added a VSS converter.

The only problems with using the 05-06 ecu is that your cruise control may cut out from time to time due to the high pulses per minute not registering with your speedometer and you will have evap codes for the fuel tank pressure because the 02-04 evap system is a bit different. The pressure sensor reads at different points in the system...i'm currently trying to keep using my 05-06 ecu and overcome this evap problem....im not sure how to yet though...might not even be possible but any help would be appreciated.

I read something on kpro about the 05-06 ecu having a low pulse per minute output that goes to the speedometer but I haven't tried it yet. If this is true and it works with the 02-04 cluster, then you might not need the vss converter since the ecu does the converting for you.

I currently have a 06 z1 in a 2002 rsx type s & fuel pump isn’t priming. Engine harness is 06 with 06 kpro ecu. but dash harness is still 02. If I changed my dash to the 06 dash harness would it work? Or is there more I would have to do? Also I’m using the 02 key ignition not the 06 key ignition. I would also have to change that right ?

I also just swapped the 02 key ignition to the 06 one. So all I will be missing is the 06 dash harness? Or will I also have to remove the fuelpump harness ? I have everything to my disposal I just want to make sure the dash harness is the last thing I need. & did you have to reprogram ECU ? I can’t seem to find answers anywhere and seems like you had the same issue I’m having now..
