Let me start by saying I’m no nub, even though I feel I know the answer I’m unsure. I have a opportunity to purchase a k20z1 intake camshaft w/ the VTC gear. I tried searching and did come up with some helpful information but I just need things to be clear. Should I go ahead and get the exhaust cam also or leave the factory k20a2? My vehicle is a 2003 RSX-S with CAI, DCRH, INVIDIA EX, PRC IM, and a hondata reflash. Thanks everyone and I’m a reasonable man so a lil flaming here and there won’t chap my buns👍

If you are not interested in getting Kpro and a tune it's really not worth it. You will make a couple more HP for a cam swap.

I am definitely upgrading to Kpro, gotta love the upgrade option if you have a reflash. Honestly I don’t really want to “mod” my car anymore after this, just maintaining it and giving her love will suffice. It’s a measly $50 for the cam with the vtc gear so my Kpro funds aren’t taking a hit. Also a figured I might as well get a new TCT while the ole girl is getting her operation. Anyone else have any other input?

A valve adjustment, new TCT and call it good.

Back from the dead...

Get Kpro and
Use PRC or K20z1 intake cam & 04 or 06-08 K24a2 exhaust cam ( same exhaust cam ). Many say this is the oem best combo for a 2.0L

Hey I was wondering if the Z1 intake cam & 06-08 tsx exhaust cam would still be the best oem cam combo if I’m doing a K20Z1/K24A2 build? Tia

What are your other mods?
I'll skip suspension. Not much but an AEM V2, high flow cat. Stock type S header. The intake and head will be ported and matched. I have a valve train that could handle "stage 3" cams. Thermo intake and T/B gaskets, Nippon pistons k-pro will be a doer. I figure as long as I'm tearing it apart I will breath on it. thanx

That's a toughie. Could one say that the A2 intake cam (03 S) would give you more top end and the TSX intake cam give you more midrange? :dontknow:

Wait, the thread updated after I posted... If you have a valvetrain capable of Stage 3 cams, then why bother sticking with OEM offerings?

I remember you Senior Iron Gumby. Thankyou for chiming in on my behalf. I was banned for quite some time, by the grace of God, or I'd like to think AzianK? lol Wait..She would be a "Goddess" no? Let me get into valve train: Blox springs DUEL rated @ 85 lbs/ 280 lbs. 15mm lift They cover a lot. New factory retainers/seats. Supertech flat valves/keepers and guides. I want stock reliability. I put 400k+ on my Integra GSR. This is bad Ju-JU! I only have 110k on my type S! I want it streetable and drop dead reliable. ( like AzianK) lol I have new bearings. 11.1 pistons both 30^ and 50* gears. I have TSX/RSX cam gears. It seems some run the rsx w/ the TSX cams? Why? I'm VERY concerned about valve/piston clearance but would like to mill head for 11.5. The flathead valves might do that? I've done ALOT of cam-search and never liked skunk2 anyway and B/C is a toss up? Toda is interesting? I've also heard of tensioner failure ALOT. I have cloyes chains and new fac. tensioner. Trying to cover the bases and NOT skimp on anything. Plus 1k for cams is a chunk and I got the TSX's for 2 bills...What a bargain? In the end I WILL bring this motor back! It's a matter of pride.
