hey guys, what is the importance of the small metal geared speedo gear?
i just purchased ITR LSD and it is not coming with the little gear. Can either reuse my existing (5spd) speedo gear or should i purchase one?

you do reuse your old one. It not only tells you what speed you are at but it also tells the ECU for things like VTEC.

no, there are zero gains to be had in a speedo gear.
