Turbo install complete, phase 1!

:wavey:I have been a long time lurker here as my best buddy aftershock141 is on the boards with a boosted dc5. I decided to register and slowly post in some of your threads, and he said I should post up my car. So here it is.:giggity:

1991 Toyota mr2 NA to turbo swap. Bought with 66,000 miles, now with 98,000 miles. Under 12,000 miles on the rebuilt block.

I decided to buy another crashed mr2. Buying a rear clip is easier than just buying the turbo motor. You get everything from the seats back that you need. Body harness, motor, brakes yadda yadda. With this FULL car I also got seats, wheels, spacers, and lots more!








The shop where we did the swap. Black crashed painted and red mr2 are mine. Everything else int he shop is my friends.

Here is the engine after pulled it from the black mr2. 177,000 miles into a 66,000 chassis :(. Hey I got it for a good price, so no biggy! So gross and oily, definatley needed more work than I intended, oh well here we go......





NA motor pulled from my red mr2, preparing for the turbo guts!

Well 6 months later in about Novemeber, this thing was dripping oil left and right. I had enough and decided it was time for a rebuild. Why do it like a sissy! I had a local mr2 master built me a fully forged block, with all the goodies!

Man I love MR2s :drool: great car man. Looks fucking sexy from behind. How much hp/torque you puttin down down?

Aftershocks got an awesome boosted car too, for a base :laughing:

Never dynoed the car yet, still on my stock turbo. I will update in March when I install the new turbo. Currently only like 230whp tops. Once I install my tuned ecu and turbo I should easily be around 340whp fuel limiting. My goal is for next summer over 500 with gt3082. Once I do my hondata conversion as well.

Absolutely freaking ballin. My friend had an MR2 that he had big plans for, but he totalled it a few months ago :(. I see you're shootin for 350rwhp! I don't know much about Toyotas or turbos, so do you think you'll make it?

Good luck with the build, man. You should get plenty of support from here.

Stock turbo no, its already choking at 17psi above 5000rpm. The turbo in my last post the shiny one is a Mitsubishi td06 20g. Lots of dsm's run them. Highest hp on this turbo on a mr2 is around 470whp. Ill be able to make it no problem. What is holding me back now currently is 550cc injectors and tune. I am converting my car to run off of hondata. Then I can upgrade to top feed 880's and get a real tune, that should last me all of summer until next winter where my goal is paint/body and 500whp.

Maybe rate aroudn 200hp or so? Not to sure, I have maybe 220-230 at the wheels now.

God damn nice car, that generation mr2 is one of my all time fav's :drool:

Did he post a vid of the two of you racing by chance? If so I am the one who asked for pics :laughing:
