Hey what up Guys,
im 27years old and living in Germany / Bavaria.
Im a painter and also do bodywork, everything myself, so i build a couple of Hondas before...like my own EK Coupe K24 Drag Civic, and also a EK Coupe H22 swap, and other ones. I worked a lot on American Customers Cars, cuz they are pretty close to where i live, and get in touch with me if they needed anything back in the days.
In february my Japan Import DC5 came in. Its in PERFECT condition.
Base Model, Automatic...but not for a long time.
So here is my Story...feel free to ask anything anytime :)

Here is the first shot when i picked it up

Its a Base Model Automatic like i said, but still a K20A engine like you see on the Japanese Title, cause the japanese never had the last letters. All of them were K20A

I got some temporary plates and cleand up the car, did the bushings on the front control arms and the bearings, also put some new longer wheel studs for the front.

I googled for low DC5´s and read often that some famous DC5´s are sittin on Raceland / Rokkor coilovers. The German Inspection also told me,the TÜV Certification (German Inspection) also says, its the smaller Company of BC Racing. However...here is it,and still could go lower

Then i had the chance to get a replica Mugen Bumper for a facelift

Bought a replica Mugen Wing, and damaged DC5R wheels with 225/45-17 Tires and paint them Smokey Dark Grey, painted the brake calipers in bright Blue. Ordered 05-06 Headlights without HIDs from RSXPARTSMANN,really cool guy from the USA

The fitment was really bad and i tried to fix that, but it dont work. the upper part was to short. So i made a negative form of the oem grill and look how it works

A friend got his own Import Company and made his first meeting, and my Friend with his DC5R was showin up there with me. Cause the Bumper was still in progress,i just taped it of

And the nitemare goes on...

Always checkin the fitment

Cruisin around with my friends 350z Nismo Serial Number 002,and my primed Mugen Bumper

Lookin good man! That's some dedication for that front end!
Why go through all that trouble just to get an iS?

Also, just because it says K20A doesn't mean you got THE K20A. Just an FYI if you didn't already know that.
Nice progress
i know,i said the same ;) its the A3 engine, but still called A cuz its jdm.
Which trouble? I had no trouble. I dont wanna run k20 engines and dont like 6spd in a honda. thats why i swapped my civic after the k20 and the k20 turbo to a whole k24. And the biggest differences are Brembos, the K20A engine and Tranny,Red interieur and exhaustsystem with the other exterieur skirts and lips.
I wanna change the exterieur and engine anyways.at first there were a lot what i miss when i looked to my friends DC5R...but now im happy.

I have seen a lot of Type R´s here in Germany...1 is acturally for sale for 7k Euros. its like 11.000$. But i have never seen a Type R in a really good condition! PLUS ...Championshipwhite looks ugly on a DC5 to me :D
I could buy a dc5r,here in my city is one for sale. but so i save money and got a prefect condition dc5 :)
your friend imported a usdm nismo 350z to Germany?!?! wow thats some dedication!!
:megusta:
In on this, love what you did to the front bumper and the grill area! Base auto or not, that took some work so good job! Cant wait to see more, progress is looking good
fellow razors guy here. Although mine havnt been used in awhile.

Cars looking good man
This is why people shouldn't buy replica garbage.
great work man, I don't care what model car it is. the time and dedication to the detail you put in it is awesome, keep it up and keep us updated whatever you decide to do next

You left out that the DC5R weighs a good 189 pounds less than the iS.
thank you everybody :D

Koopa Troopa: Thats right :/ But i will do something for the weight :D i want a rollcage and stripped interieur, but cant find a cage like the Mugen one which goes to the Trunk area.

White 02: Thats right man...if i knew this before,i would go with a oem 05-06 frontbumper and a nice lip

mdd: yes he got his 350z here. Im not sure but the number 000 is in the Nismo Factory. The Number 001 is a White one sold to a guy in California i think. and our number 002 is the first Black one which was sold to a customer. we have 2 or 3 real nismo 370z here, but they are not that good

AzianK: Thanks a lot. But the Automatic is really really slow...it sucks :/
I'm a little confused here... If your going to go through the trouble of importing a JDM RHD into a country that's LHD why not just get the real deal?

Or maybe your laws are not as strong as they are here in the USA?
like i said, there was no trouble to import a car.its easy,it just cost a lot to bring the car here.
Why should i spend way more money into a type r, if i wont keep the highlights? this one was very cheap plus the condition was important to me. the type r´s are mostly fucked up,repainted and the engines were not the best anymore.

laws...hm.... :D for registery you have to pay like 350$. for passing inspection the first time with your import car around 1600$. taxes 19% and custom fees are like 3% of the whole car price. and then you are good to go for the streets.
its even not allowed for us to buy parts and install them. every single modified part on you car needs a TÜV Certification which says the parts are approved on this model if you have an accident...or high speed test...or if the car is on fire. have to go to special shops who are allowed to do this, but they charge for every single part 350$ that u can keep the parts legal on you car :D yep...it sucks. even if i need dc5 parts it sucks. i cant order mugen replica side skirts or the rear lip. nobody send it to me

nothing wrong with the auto, does what you need it to just fine. I'm happy with mine, if I wanted power prob would've gotten something else or not even a honda haha

the car is good for what you use it for and what you turn it into. want it to be fast, there are bunch of mods that you can get it up to speed. just need time and money invested, bunch of people running auto turbo and such
Why should i spend way more money into a type r, if i wont keep the highlights?
Because there's more to a DC5 Type R than just Brembos, Recaros, and the engine.

Not sure if you can read Japanese, but to sum that picture up, it says the rear cross member is reinforced, there's a lot of aluminum pieces, and the rear shock mounts and the front shock towers are reinforced. Plus, DC5 ITRs are getting cheaper in Japan, and you should have been able to make out pretty good with the current exchange rate. You could get a DC5R from Japan for only 6,000 euros. It's currently 140 yen to the euro.

But if you're happy with an iS then that's really all that matters.

The DC5 Type-R didn't have a bespoke chassis. All the extra reinforcements are bolt on and could be bolted onto a Type-S.

That diagram is for the 05-06 Type-R. The chassis is identical to the 05-06 base and Type-S as far as the actual structure/body (including the front strut towers and rear upper shock mounting points).

He could have probably got an ITR for a good price but if he just wants the aesthetics if it's going to be completely redone, the iS isn't a bad choice.
thats right. i know the differences to a Facelift dc5. but at this time i hadnt a chance, also hadnt enough money to get a good 05-06 type r. and the preface type r´s like i said werent good enough that it worth to spend like 4000$ extra. the biggest point is,i love to change the aesthetic parts...also the engine will be gone if im good with the money this year.
you guys are right, if i have money like shit, i would buy a 05-06 type r of course and still could change the parts. i paid not that much for this car,and just wanted a 100% rust free chassis. even the typical areas are like brandnew. other 02-04 type r´s what we got here, got rust on the rear shock towers...under the rear bumper where the reinforcement bar is mounted...front shocks...subframe...rear quarts starting with bubbling rust where the fender line is going around.
so im happy with my car.
you guys are lucky that you have acuras and hondas DC5 chassis. we have nothing !
its a pain in the ass for me to get that fuckin 05-06 mugen rear lip and side skirts...or any other dc5 parts. god bless, but imagine if i have an accident, dont matter how hard - i just have the option,to repair that damaged shit. i cant buy a new fender...door...or whatever here. even honda europe dont help and arent able to order parts. im lookin for 05-06 taillights for the convertion what i want...no chance. it just cost like 40-50bucks shipping to germany, but nobody want to send me those,i dont know where the difference is sending them within the states,or to me to germany, cause i pay shipping anyways.
so...even if i couldnt modify the car, im also happy to just have a DC5 here.
just my 2cents...maybe you dont understand...maybe you do :) i love this community here and love to get feedback, even if someone will say bad things, cause also these are comments what i try to understand and make it better then.
ps: sorry for my bad english :D
