Well, it's taken a little over a year but I finally got this old girl looking clean again. Little backstory...
Back in January of 2022, I was heading to the store on my lunch break when some retard in a brand new F250 decided to execute a right hand turn right into my door. Dude tried to run off and I had to call the sheriff. The worst part about this was that I got rid of collision coverage 2 weeks prior to the accident (CA only requires liability insurance).

This was originally going to be a blend job with a new door, but I've never been one to make rational financial decisions. There were rock chips, acid stains from bird poop, and some half assed body work, all from the previous owner of the vehicle. I ended up having everything repaired. Between this and what I originally paid for the car, I paid close to the original MSRP for a Type S. Was it worth it? To me, absolutely. I grew up watching the Fast and the Furious, playing racing games like NFS, and I've wanted one of these damn cars since I was 10. This was an easy "yes" at the end of the day. Going to be addressing the wheels next...

I agree, the design is timeless. I've always thought the RSX was one of the sharpest cars Honda designed.

No arguement on the RSX and it's magnetic attraction. I saw a pre production at the Chicago Auto Show and had to have one,,,,someday. I bought a 2003 in 2006 a month after my release from prison. I felt I owed it to myself? That was a rough spot to get hit/ and repair. Glad your getting this unfortunant incident off your chest in a constructive manor. Peace
Very nice! Looks minty fresh!

She is glorious! I am working on restoring mine as well to glory. If you don't mind me asking, how much did the paint job cost?

Just over $14k... this included the door, new f/r bumpers, plus fixing body work that the previous owner had done. A refinish would have cost me closer to $10k.
I'm now finding quite a few issues with how they put the interior back together and no longer feel that I got my money's worth lol.

Thanks!
Although I will admit, I am considering the TR style lip from VIS... Just not sure how it'll look without a rear lip lol.
honestly your in cali you really can't daily these anymore without it getting stolen, I would leave it stock, but then again there are nice modern security gps/kill switch readily available nowadays, and tons of other mechanical/passive protection to prevent it, but if they really want it it will be gone best to do have early alerts so you can recover it really fast. I wouldn't really mod it if its dd. Just too much risk.
Don’t tell me that, I’ve been thinking to myself for years that no one will want her because of the trans hahaha. Yeah I try to avoid going anywhere these days. The car goes directly from the garage at home to the garage at the office. No more late nights in sketchy parking lots for me lol.
well hate to be transparent with you but its true

I will never sell my RSX. As previously stated. I once joked with you as to your never ending love and devotion to yours. Went as far as to say you lost your virginity in it. What is the deal? You coulda lifted one of the "maybe I'll sell it's" off here for that. It goes well behond resonable, or not. Care to share? o_O

Honestly, I settled when I bought my car. I originally went and inspected a type s about 40 miles away. 05 in magnesium with a black interior, 68k on the clock. Everything was original except for the k&n sri, the body was straight with your typical paint chips here and there but overall in great condition except for the rubber trim along the top of the windshield. Even the leather was well kept. This dude bought it when he joined the Air Force and was still making payments on it with stupid high interest. He was asking for $12k and I talked him down to $10.5k, all he needed to do was get it smogged. I went back down the following weekend with cash, under the impression that he got it smogged, and he hadn’t. The k&n sri isn’t CARB legal, and I was well aware of that but I assumed he knew a guy that would pass him. I don’t know if this guy was scared of getting into trouble, but he offered me the keys and said “here there’s a smog shop around the corner”. My instincts told me that he would call the cops and claim it was stolen, so I walked away.

I kept searching the internet for another unmolested type s that wasn’t out of my price range for about 2 weeks. I was just about to give up when I stumbled upon this old girl. 66k miles, all original everything, and barely driven over the previous 5 years. No dings or dents. Asking price was $10k and I had to remind the guy that it was a base model with an auto trans. Walked around the car and pointed out a few spots with questionable body work, and then told him I’d be back in 15 minutes with $8k in cash. I told him it was a one time offer and I don’t mind walking away. He caved lol.

Your car looks beautiful, like new! My '05's paint has taken a beating here in the SoCal sun over the years. Are you also in SoCal, and if so, would you mind sharing who did your repaint?

Nice! Congrats! I am in similar position about painting my car that the clear coat is just gone. The value of the car is just barely over the cost of painting it. Not sure what I want to do.
