Old fart w/ a NHB 2003 Type-S

Hey,
Old guy, retired but not dead, decided to get a new hobby and picked up a one owner, 50-something old single lady, Type-S w/ 210K on it. Runs like a top w/ exception of 3rd gear being fussy and needing a little extra attention when shifting.

Can't believe how much I've learned in just a few weeks reading thru threads. Great site, guys!

Want an eventual look that is more subtle/sleeper w/ as many oem, or related, parts as possible. Just ordered a Mugen Sport Suspension and picked up some '04 TL-S rims that were chromed, 17x8 +45. Gonna wait to see how the susp kit looks before deciding what spacers I might want.

Next will probably replace a lot of bushings and usual high mileage things. If anyone knows of any well known problems w/ hi mile 2003 please let me know.

Eventually want a K24 franken w/ aftercooler CTE around 250-300 hp for a street enthusiast ride.

Looking forward to seeing the stance on the Mugen kit.

Congrats! Looking nice! I just picked up my rsxs last week, so I don't have the experience with them yet, but I did own an 04 civic si which is a very similar car and many of the parts are the same or similar. I never had any problems with my si except one heater blower relay in the 2.5 years and 70k miles I put on it. They are great cars. I expect the same from these acuras. If anything, the transmission is probably the weakest point, but thats not really the fault of the car. If people would learn to drive fast properly...

Oh yeah, and alot of these engines tend to use a little oil when you vtec, but from my experience its pretty normal/common. My s2k did it, and my wifes 08 civic si with 20k miles on it, did it too.

hey man welcome to the forum and looks like you're already having a bit of fun on the rsx you picked up. it is a great car for any age so don't matter the number at all, glad to know you got some suspension coming your way too. i'm sure once you drop it a bit, it's going to look awesome

if you are looking into doing a swap, then the motor swap section and all the info there will be greatly beneficial to getting started and finding everything you need to do one man. lots of reading and the guys in there are really helpful too, pop in and ask questions if you ever need anything.

I think ideally you'd want 10-15mm spacers, but if you find some 5mm ones (maybe 7mm I've heard too?) you can run them with no modifications (stock lug studs). Anything greater will require extended studs or have integrated spacer studs and nuts

I agree about the spacers but wanted get the Mugen SS on before I got too implusive.

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna want the rears moved out a bit, 15mm??, and the fronts as well but probably smaller spacer in front, 5mm maybe. But, I'll be patient and see how it sits on Mug SS first. :hb:

Also, just bought this from a guy from HERE. Should be here next week.

Looking for the best Phoenix area JDM K24 dealer and a good install shop that puts quality in their work but not over the top expensive. I know quality costs and I'm willing to pay it but don't have a "blank check" type of Benjamin stack.

Yeah, I saw that in your other posts!

I do have another recommendation though: Get front camber bolts (2 pair even) and adjustable rear upper arms to add camber in the front and let some out in the rear.

I got a similar although inferior suspension (A-spec) and it had recommended camber & toe settings. I figured since they were a Honda product then it can be done, right? With stock bolts? Nope. No double-wishbone here :thumbsdow

:rotfl: yeah, was just messing around. I do have a Mugen cf plug cover, rad cap, ITR dipstick. That's about it, sold the car awhile back.

Ikr? It is plug and play, so to speak, but in my experience it doesn't allow you to get proper camber settings, at least performance settings, if you in to that sorta thing. When I installed my 1" drop A-spec suspension, by front end was 0d camber and rear was -2.2d :ugh:. I can find the thread for you. Perhaps people have similar experiences with Mugen
