i was changing my oil, and like an idiot i was yacking and not paying attention to what i was doing and put all 5 qrts of oil in instead of the 4.5 its supposed to be. I drained a bit out of the pan, but i dont know how much. I think its still alittle over. should it be straight?

u should be fine. if not just drain some more oil out. i had a freind that did this to his gsr motor and it bogged bad and ran like shit. but we just drained some more and it ran perfect
i put 5 qts in my car after drain/fill since my first oil change. still fine here.

but its always a tiny bit above the second dot on the dipstick, which is fine.

check your dipstick.........:shakehead
if you think you overfilled the oil, then drained some, why dont you check the damn dipstick to see where your oil level is? it is there for that exact reason. Seriously, did you not think of that before posting a thread about something so simple?
I did check the dip stick, thats why i said i think its still a little over. sorry for not stating the obvious. :chillout:

thanks
Overfilling with oil will cause the crank to slap the oil and will produce a lot of foam. Foam doesn't lubricate and cool as well as a liquid...

:iamwiths: Just check it if its over just drain it a lil more and go back to check it should be fine.
who cares, its only a a3 motor, they are a dime a dozen
You checked your dipstick... drain it until it's at the right amount, done. Easy as that
Your going to have to pull you engine, turn it upside down, and drain the excess oil back out.

true, but if it is slightly over it probably won't make a big difference.
