Hello Fellow Dc5/Rsx Community,

I've got a 2002 Rsx Base with over 200k miles. I replaced the power steering rack last summer after I slaughtered it from trying to remove the inner tie rods. I had to use heat and I melted the plastic cover in the middle. It never leaked but I was just being a bit anal about it. So I made a mistake by purchasing a reman rack from Detroit Axle. I replaced it in June of 2022 and it leaked in January. It's only a minor class 2 leak and leaves a few drips every day on my garage floor.

DA was not very flexible in honoring their warranty. Makes sense, they want you to send the defect before getting one in return. I wish it was the other way around so I don't have any down time but that's reality.

I am in the market for a replacement. I was thinking a used OEM because I trust that more than a reman at this point.

My question is, does anyone have any experience in replacing the seals using those aftermarket seal kits? I would be up for that job but just need some assurance that it will actually work. Hoping for a kit recommendation based on personal experience. I saw a YT video on someone who replaced his seals on his Miata and it leaked right after replacing the seals. Watching that video made me a bit cautious as to which direction I want to go with this issue.

Anyone got any tips or recommendations on what to do? Either replace the rack with a used one or another Reman, maybe from Rock Auto or some place similar? The leak is not that bad but it's upsetting because I replaced the rack, inner and outer tie rods then got an alignment. This job was a long process and a serious hassle. I hate to do it again but I know I have to. Just trying to figure out which direction to go.

I have spring break in a couple of weeks, so I want to start ordering either the seals or a rack.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance,
