Being new to this site, I browsed through many posts on what options you
have to increase HP (besides Nitrous). I would really like to know what combo gives the greatest HP increase on the base auto SS. The best I've seen so far (although he had a manual) was 148HP with AEM SRI (plus heatshield), HP Header (which HP header though) and Magnaflow 2.25" Catback. This was done by Klutch. Now I see another Dyno using Injen CAI and Magnaflow Exhaust, and the results where 137 HP ? Little confusing here.

Options for base RSX: Intakes: AEM SRI, CAI or Injen SRI or CAI
Exhaust: Seems the Magnaflow 2.25" is the most
popular. The comptech has a 2.5" pipe
which could slow down the exhaust velocity
and hurt low - midrange power.
Headers: HP ?? DC Sports and Comptech .. but
which one...???
Hondata: ECU & Gasket
Pullies: AEM or Unorthodox.. release date soon
(good for 4 ~ 6 hp increase)

So out of all of these, which gives the best power combo ?

If Klutch got 148 hp on a 2800lb car + driver & fuel , add the pullies and
get 152HP which would put a RSX SS about 15.8 or 15.9 in the 1/4 ?

Please help out.. too much spread out knowledge that's a little confusing.. thanks.

Klutch has a 5spd. base (i think) which would make his 1/4 mile times better than a rsx-ss with the same mods...correct me if im wrong

Yes, he has a 5 speed manual. Is the Auto Dyno the same as a Manual ?
Stock, both around 134 ~ 135 HP or is the Auto less? Not much lost with FWD compared to RWD. 16.5 is an avg. for the SS, and if you can squeeze out an additional 15 ~ 20 HP, you should do 16.05 ~ 15.8 in the 1/4.

Mods in a Nutshell

not if we are better drivers. :p hehe
I posted this in another forum also, but it seems there are and will be
plenty of mods for this car.

INJEN CAI - 5HP
HP HEADER OR DC SPORT 4-2-1 HEADER - 5HP
MAGNAFLOW CATBACK - 3HP
AEM PULLEY KIT - 5HP (i had these before, they work really well.. .25 sec off)
Hondata Gasket
Hondata ECU - should improve the overall performance of the car with mods
Aluminum Flywheel
Lower the Car ;)

I would think that an SS with all these mods could run High 15's.
Maybe in very cold weather and no heat soak, shifting @ 7200rpm
Mid 15's ? :spin:

You can also do a stage I turbo by Cybernation Motorsports
and some engine upgrades.

Then there is the NOS Wet Nitrous or Venom Dry Nitrous ;)

Although the mods i listed would all be different if turbo or nitrous or both are involved. And you could forget Hondata with a turbo & nitrous.

Which is the better Header ?

I'm a little confused on what header most RSX Base owners are using

HP 4-2-1 Header or the DC Sports 4-2-1 Header

No problems installing these like the Jackson racing header ?

Remember seeing something about a JR Header problem on a type-S.

5spd vs SS

face it guys... 5spd is better than our SS. :/
Well my buddy has an 03 5spd.. and his best time is 15.5.. mine was 16.189

but that was with no heatsoak.. usually i run a 16.4 ~ 16.6.

If he misses a shift, or spins too much on the launch, you'll get him (not by much though) unless you hit the rev. limiter ;)
That shift miss can cost him .5 to 1 sec ;)

At least the SS is an SS with 5 gears! not 4 .. so that makes the auto much
more attractive to say the least :driving:
