Hi Guys!! First post, after searching of course.
My fuel pump is leaking. I need a new one.

What's the difference between the Factory Stock Fuel Pumps in the Base vs. the Type-S?

Acura dealership lists 2 different part numbers.
Base = 17045-S6M-A01
Type-S = 17045-S6M-A30

Every aftermarket parts store lists them as the same part number and say they are interchangeable. I.E. ~ Advanced, O'Reilly, Napa.

I have a pretty mint all stock 06 Type-S with 112k miles and I don't want to overpay for the Factory Type-S fuel pump if it makes no difference.

Napa sells the interchangeable pump for $212.
Acura sells a type-s pump for $415

Any one have any facts or opinions?

Honda doesn't usually create new part numbers for no reason. It could be something major, as in flow characteristics of the pump, or it could be something minor, like a different cast of a tiny plastic piece.
If you're hurting for cash, I'm sure the Napa one will work fine. If you want that extra peace of mind, get the correct part from Acura.
I replaced mine recently with the OEM part, from an online Acura dealership for less than $300. Probably was Delray or acuraoemparts.org

They can get it from another dealer. Personally, I'd just order it. There are a bunch of dealers online that have it in stock. Local dealers like to mark up parts for profit. Here is where i got mine.

If you need it today, I'm sure the Napa one is perfectly fine. It's not really performance related, it either pumps gas at the correct pressure or it doesn't.

I'll be getting the Napa one tomorrow and see what happens!!

You can get a Walbro for half the Napa. Ebay RSX fuel pump and there is even one for $10. The difference in part # might be the pig tail to connect it. There is only two wires so it's a pretty easy task if you need to swap your pig tail. Problem nowadays is there all probably the $10 one and would work as long as the OE. Nothing magical about the Chinese factory that made the Honda pump.

I suppose that depends on if the pump died, or if the housing is cracked and leaking gas. In my case, it was not the pump itself, but the plastic housing leaking gas onto the top of the tank. I've had a Walbro die on me within 2 weeks, and another I had for 5+ years, so I can't say much good or bad about them.

Thats the problem with mine, its leaking due to cracking so I need the whole piece. napa comes with a lifetime warranty and I plan on keeping this car forever.

It's a Denso in there now, that's Japanese.

I dont buy ebay parts anymore, I've received too many bad parts.

And the only reason I was trying to source the dealer part is because this car is still all factory original and I was trying to keep it that way for myself as it's pretty mint and I want to keep it for ever. Even the leather interior is pretty mint. Best I've seen. No rust Florida car. Garage kept and only driven about 150 miles per month these days as I work from home and use a Yamaha golf cart year round to drive around town mostly. Gotta love Florida!!

Denso has 22 production facilities in China. I'd bet the same or better quality out of China. They don't mess around when it comes to making stuff.

I’m having the same issue right here, I have an 06 type s but I’m wondering if the base would fit and work the same way the “type s “ pump would I’m no trying to overpay for this and I’ve seen them for around 260, does anybody knows where can I get it a little cheap ?
