You'll feel little to no difference. If you want to start modding save up for a Type S and make the transition. Trust me I've owned a Base, Type S, and Turbo Type S. The Base was only good for reliability and good gas mileage.
Get whatever brand fits within your budget, they're all the same. Just make sure you get one that connects to the strut mount bolts as the base doesn't have the same mounting points as the Type S.
All it does is prevent chassis flex. As mentioned above, you'll feel little to no difference, but it will inspire more confidence when taking hard turns. That could be good or bad depending on your skills as a driver.
