2591 Views 44 Replies 25 Participants Last post by  TampaRSX-S
The other day my toda header started making a weird noise i though it was the gasket between the RH and the B-pipe. it turned out to be the flex pipe was coming apart?? when i spent over a Grand on a header less than a year ago, i thought it was going to last me? now my car sounds like a go-kart it is embarrassing as hell it makes me not want to drive my car. i emailed toda but they wont reply to me, and the local muffler shops cant touch it because its a federal law (missing a cat) can anyone help me
thanks

you need to go to a ghetto muffler shop not the fancy ones and let them know you slide an extra 20 or even fifty if they fix it:D (works every time)lol

true story:thumbsup:
doesnt toda sell this part on kingmotorsports.com?
damnit thats a lot of money a flex pipe at the auto parts store is only 25 bucks?
Flex pipes seem to be the downfall of RH's for our cars.

Now most will bitch about the DC rather than the Toda.

But look at how many have the DC compaired to Toda.

Rule of thumb would be to avoid flex pipes on RH's for our cars.
As for the threadstarters options.

U either need to get a new flex pipe welded in or a straight pipe welded in the place of the flex pipe.
thanks
Take it off the car and then have it welded... They will not know if the car has a cat or not....
I had to have the same replaced on my Spoon header. It's made to flex and over time the metal just breaks. Funny story, I bought my header used back in the day. Ever since I had it, I can't recall it being as quiet as it is now.

I never had a muffler shop turn me away because it wasn't a street legal part. It's not their jurisdiction. Having the flex pipe replaced set me back about $150, labor included. I wouldn't weld on a straight pipe as an alternative either. It's a stress point where the metal needs to flex.
Buddyclub does not even use a flex pipe and I am 90% sure its for that reason. I would make sure I had motor mounts and just weld a straight pipe in it.
yes but wihtout flex piece the ratling and th evibration ust increase
wat u shud do, is invest 150# into a torque damper, stop the twisting of the motor, thats wats wearing ur flex pipe. and cas it to crack.
lol so pretty much every header can have problems... no header company has a spotless record.. if it does not enough people use it.
tsk tsk tsk, where the "toda is the best header" people at lol

I take it you have stock Engine Mounts? The Toda RH flex is sensitive to engine shuffle & the stock mounts are very weak and allow for way too much movement.
Another alternative to a flexpipe would be to have an adapter/test pipe made utilizing a dougnut and spring bolts.
My Hytech header doesnt have a flexpipe... hmm..
